   4th of July weekend rates
   4th of July weekend rates
OK, I got some time on my hands this A.M., so I took a peak at some hotel/casino's to see what the going rates are for the 4th of July weekend (2 nites) arriving Friday and beparting on the 4th, Sunday.

I found some interesting results. First, Prices are not that high for that weekend, and thier is plenty of rooms.

My first comparison is those lower properties on the strip....Circus Circus, Riviera, Sahara, & Stardust. From low to high price, how would you arrange these hotels????

Here is how they came in...
Riviera, $162
Sahara, $179
Stardust, $185
Circus Circus, $244

Don't know about you, but Circus Circus isn't a $122 a night hotel???

Now, just for fun, lets take this same question downtown. I'll list the correct order after a few members post what you think would be the correct order, lowest to highest.

Binions, El Cortez, Four Queens, Fremont, Golden Gate, Las Vegas Club, Plaza.

Here's a few suprises I found....
Sams Town $119, what a bargin!!!!
Bourbon St $203, yikes...for what?
Ballys $283, respectful
Wild Wild West $83, I'd never stay here, but folks, that's $41.50 a night for a holiday weekend in Vegas, no gambling obligation, taxes included!

I'm looking forward to some replies....

Lee my initial impression was to put the downtowners in the order you listed them except for Binions.

after some thought, I changed to this guess...

Fremont...probably doesn't realize it's a holiday with their heavy Hawaiian traffic.
El Cortez...probably has a loyal customer base.
4Q...worst "under the canopy" location.
Golden Gate...has so few rooms that it is easy to manage supply demmand ratio.
Las Vegas Club...can't do anything right anyway.
Plaza...heavily improved and proud of it with a shot in the arm from the big bet guy, even though it's still a dump.
Binions Harrahshoe...Harrahs does so much wrong that they make the Las Vegas Club look like a well oiled machine.

Plaza
Golden Gate
El Cortez
Las Vegas Club
Fremont
Four Queens
Binions would be the highest just because of Harrah's new ownership

After spending 2 July 4ths in Vegas, I have observed that the fireworks displays are better here in DFW - so I won't be there. eek

Our vote is:

El Cortez
Plaza
Golden Gate
Las Vegas Club
4 Queens
Freemont
Binion's

So, how close did we come? Do we win a trip to LV?

No prizes, but everyone got Binions correct as the highest priced place to stay out of the bunch! $197 for the 2 nights.

I'll post tomorrow the correct order and prices.

Daisy,
No, Sams never works for me, because of Boyds policy of no consecutive stays in differnt properties they own.
July I'mm be at the California or Main Street. My first 2 days will be at the Cannery.

Las Vegas club $83 (a bargin if you get the new tower)
El Cortez $105
Plaza $123 (oh what they could charge if they really fixed this place up)
Golden Gate & Four Queens $164
