   Moth problems at hotels?
   Moth problems at hotels?
I really didn't know where to post this.

I've been reading about some hotels have signs this time of year, asking guests to keep the vents to the outside air closed at night because its moth season.

I'm hearing about the giant column of moths that follow the Luxor beam, and the thousands of bats that follow the moths.

But all this is making me wonder, prior to my first May trip:

I really enjoy the balcony at the IP, especially enjoying the view at night. Am I going to have to limit my balcony viewing to daytime, or risk getting eaten by Mothra's little cousins?

I read there is an infestation of bed bugs in SOME Vegas hotels. I don't know about moths but bedbugs are a bitch to get rid of. I guess I dont care if the critter wants to eat my beadspread (moths)but when they want to eat me then thats a problem.

Bedbugs are everywhere, Chris. Every hotel has them in some room, at some time. They arrive with the visitors.

That is why I always pull back the covers and the sheets and the mattress cover or pad and look at the mattress seams for the tell tale brownish streaks BEFORE I put anything down on the carpet or bed.

So far, so good!

Kestral: I don't look...!!

This is sort of like eating cherries straight off the cherry tree...Don't look at the bitten place and you will never notice if they are wormy....

It's all true. My Planet Hollywood room had those signs. And it's kinda fun to watch the bats go after them. They seem to be attracted to beams of light. If your hotel room is in the path of a bright beam, you might get some moths.

I saw some moths at the airport last night for the first time this year. There usually aren't that many because the bat population is huge out there.

This is all sounding good to me (except for my balcony part)

I don't mind moths - and i like bats.

David's already giving me tips on how to set my camera to take photos of the Luxor moth/bat buffet.
