   Need Advice on The Palms
   Need Advice on The Palms
I'm going to Las Vegas to visit my boyfriend's parents for the first time, and as part of the deal, I have my choice of hotels, sort of, knowing I have to be somewhat reasonable. The Venetian or The Palazzo is $199 a nite but the Palms Hotel is $90. How does this hotel and the rooms compare to Venetian, Wynn or Palazzo?

I was briefly inside a Palms room about a year ago and it was the original tower. It was fine. It was not classy. It was not plush. It was not fancy. It may have been a notch above standard Coast type rooms. I think the Venetian, Wynn, and Palazzo go far beyond that with much fancier bathrooms, more plush beds, fax machines, more comfortable furniture, etc.

The Palms now has 3 towers you can rent from and various levels of comfort in each tower. I suspect that I saw the lowest grade. I don't know what they are offering you for $90. If the hotel isn't sold out, the $20 trick is usually good for an upgrade.

As nice as the Venetian, Palazzo and Wynn are, I don't think I would pay $200 a night for their version of a standard room unless it was a VERY special occasion.

I've stayed at the Palms, original tower and fantasy tower as well as Palazzo.

Joe's description of the original Palms tower is correct. Fantasy Tower rooms are MUCH nicer with flat screen TV, bose radio, more modern furniture, etc. Still, it's a standard Vegas size hotel room. Fantasy tower is likely to cost you $50/night more if you can't talk your way into an upgrade.

Palazzo rooms have a step-down sitting area with large couch, table/4 chairs, computer desk complete with printer/fax machine. Three flat screen TV's, electric drapes, huge bath.

Palazzo is on the busy strip but the casino is usually quiet and comfortable.

Palms casino is also on the small side but way more crowded and a much younger crowd, especially late at night.

Palazzo has a nicer, larger pool area. Parking garage is easier than Palms

Meeting boyfriend's parents means meeting older people, so I'd suggest the Palazzo or the Wynn way over the Palms.

If you want your future in-laws to be more comfortable, avoid the Palms.

The Palms caters to a younger crowd.

I'm definitely not a big fan of either te Venetian nor the Palazzo but we did stay at the Palazzo recently and I have to admit that the Palazzo standard room was even nicer that the standard room in the Wynn dot.

BTW - Does anyone know how to find the square footage of various hotel rooms in Las Vegas?

Thanks for the comments. The boyfriend's parents live in Vegas so it is just us that are staying in a hotel. After hearing what you all had to say, and doing a TalkVegas search on past posts, we booked a room at the Wynn for $159. I'm a picky date.
