It was announced by the Rio today that David Cassidy will replace Danny Gans as the featured performer in a production show in the Rio's Copacabana Showroom. Cassidy will make his Rio debut in mid-January and is committed to 8 shows per week (three more per week than Gans) and 44 weeks in 2000.
In the meantime, Gans is expected to announce a deal with the Mirage hotel/casino when he leaves the Rio, but an announcement will be made next week that Gans has made a deal with "a Strip resort". Gans' contract with the Rio runs through January. However, both sides would need to negotiate a deal to terminate the contract sooner so Gans would be free to prepare for his move to the Mirage, and Cassidy can make plans for his new show at the Rio.
It is predicted that Gans will not be performing at the Rio past December, and he's not scheduled to perform there on New Year's Eve.
The Mirage is building a 1,280-seat performance theater to be called the Danny Gans Theater to house Gans' show, and it is scheduled to be ready by April.

Mark, Since they are building a new theatre for Danny Gans, I guess this means that Siegfried and Roy are staying at the Mirage, at least for now? Lee Ann

Lee Ann,
The rumor I've heard is that S & R may close their show in Las Vegas sometime next year. But it doesn't have anything to do with Danny coming to the Mirage.

Wendell: It's supposed to be today that the announcment is made that Gans will relocate to the Mirage. According to the LVRJ, Gans Mirage salary is somewhere around $10 million a year, one of the highest paid entertainers on the Strip. The article also noted, though, that ticket prices will not be announced until after the first of the year.
V, With a salary like that I'll give you one guess how much the tkts.will be!! It just seems odd him not at the Rio? I think Dave C.is a pretty good entertainer. His show may be a good one? Bob NY

Bob,
I'm sure David will put together something good, maybe it will include Shawn and Danny Bonaduche ?
Wendell, Danny's "new" showroom will hold about twice as many people, but don't be suprised if the tickets become even harder to get. I'm sure the ticket price was talked about prior to Danny signing since it was such a major issue with him and the Rio.
My bet - The price will go down from what the Rio is charging, I'm gonna guess in the $60 - $70 range per person.

At the press conference to officially announce that Gans has moved to the Mirage, neither Gans nor Steve Wynn would say how much the tickets will be. Gans was quoted, however, as saying that "everyone will be surprised and pleased" about the prices. If the current tickets are $99, how much lower the price will go is anybody’s guess. I think I would guess in the $69 range. Both Gans and his manager have until Feb. 1 to decide on ticket prices.
As for David C.’s show, I wonder what Rio will be charging for those tickets!

I hope you are right Mark about the cost of a Danny Gans performance as it was reported that the cost of admission was an issue with him at the RIO. It should also be noted that it is more difficult to book Danny at the RIO and S & R at the Mirage unless you are staying at those hotels. I hope this booking policy does not carry over to the Mirage. Wendell

Wendell: Tickets for Mystere, O, and S & R are sold in advance to guests of those Mirage Resorts before they become available for non-guests, so we should probably plan on it being the same policy for tickets to Danny Gans as well.
