Ticket prices at the Hacienda were a steal but this is still a great price for Lance Burton, imo.

Gail, I was complaining to a friend about how show prices have escalated in Las Vegas. Lance is one of the few remaining deals on a top quality performer. I think that anyone attending this show will enjoy it.

John, A few years back, we saw Lance Burton at the Hacienda. During his performance, he took on stage some kids from the audience (my kids included) and let them help him. After the show, he signed autographs and chatted with the kids. I always liked Lance Burton. After the article I read in the Tourguide Magazine, July 30-Aug. 5, 199, I like him even more.

In part:

On the heels of his NBC special "Lance Burton: Master Magician: Top Secret" and three sold out performances in Cerritos, California, Lance Burton has returned to the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino...

He recently co-sponsored a new 12-seat Sunshine Coach for the New Vista Ranch. The New Vista Ranch is for young adults who are mentally or physically challenged and desire to live independently.

Burton also made a cash donation to the Variety Club of the United States' newest project called "The Bash" and was honored afterwards when the grand total raised came in at $2.2 million. All of the funds went to aid children in need on the East Coast.

Gail,
I saw Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo in March on 98. At that time, he still would call kids up on stage to help with a few of his tricks. He also signed autographs after the show and announced that a certain percentage of the profits at the magic gift shop goes to charity.

Michael, I haven't seen Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo yet. I was wondering if he was still calling the kids on stage with his new showroom. I figured he would be. Thanks for the reply!

Bob, Funny thing about Lance Burton, I thought he was "real" too. I don't know how anyone could like kids (I'm just joking) but he really seems to like them.

I've never seen S & R but I can't imagine paying that price when you can see Lance Burton for $40.

Did you ever see Abracadabra at the Alladin? I really liked that magic show a lot.

Bob & Gail,

All the times we've stayed at M.C. we have never taken the opportunity to see Lance Burton. After reading some posts, I will definitely have to do that next time we're there. I've never been thrilled with magic shows, but will make this one an exception.

Snookie,
Are you telling us that the showroom still uses the old Vegas seating policy (tip at the door for a good seat)?

Snookie,

How soon are you going ? Some hotels will ask you what hotel you are staying at when you book the show. Did they do this ?

When we saw Lance last year, I reserved my seats a few weeks in advance, I was asked over the phone what hotel I was staying at. I told em a little white lie and answered "Monte Carlo!". We were given second row center tickets.

Now this trick does not work at all hotels. The Mirage properties will check and verify if you are in their system for the dates requested. As of last year, that wasn't the case at the MC.

Also, if you can't get any satisfaction, ask to speak to a supervisor or someone higher up from the person you are speaking with. At worst, you should be given the specific area your seats are in.

Let us know how you make out.

Snookie, did they tell you that the computer will pick the best seats available? Read Mike and Paula's experience with MB. That might be the problem. Your seats would have been reserved, but they can't tell you where they will be until you purchase the tickets and the computer assigns them. This is getting to be a common practice in Las Vegas.

John,
Yes she said the computer would pick my seat after I payed for the ticket. I dont want a lousy seat so I said no I cant do that. She said sorry and I hung up.So I will have more free time in Vegas. No shows for me this time. I was also told that it didnt matter where you were staying 60 days ahead is the policy.

Snookie,
I saw Lance Burton in March of 98. I called about 4 weeks ahead of time and they told me that the computer would pick the next best seats. We arrived the night of the show 1&1/2 hours before hand to pick up the tickets. We were dumb-founded when we were seated in the second row aisle seats. The steps to the stage ended right in front of us. He stood right by us when he performed some of his act. The moral is, call early and you WILL get a good seat. Regardless, if I recall correctly, the theatre isn't exceptionally large therefore most seats are good seats.

Thats great. But I dont want to risk it. I will never see another show in Vegas if I have to do the computer thing.

Snookie,
Never say never. Everytime I do I end up eating my words later.

How early can you pick up tickets? If you where to plan on seeing a show your second or third day, could you pick them up a day or two ahead? By doing this would you then be able to get good seats (first come first served). Perhaps when you arrive you could ask how many seats had already been assigned and based on that knowledge, get the seats you want if they are available. I know when I run into an airline that won't assign seats until check in, I will get to the airport early enough to get the seats I want, even if I have to run out early, get the tickets, and go back home. Inconvenient I know but I'm not all that far from the airport and we hate bad seating assignments.

Perhaps that's what the hotels want us to do. Come in early, get the good seats, and stick around to gamble. Or could be they want us to stay at there place so this would be more convenient. Then again maybe I'm just paranoid and the computer is just easier for them.

Michael, you just remind me of something when you said >>Regardless, if I recall correctly, the theatre isn't exceptionally large therefore most seats are good seats.<<

I believe that the showroom was specifically designed and built for Lance Burton. Also, he was in on the designing. So I would bet that most if not all are pretty good seats.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who thought they got bad seats here.

Snookie,
I guess Michael and I have been pretty lucky with our seats for shows in Las Vegas. We have seen Lance Burton, EFX, Chicago, and the Righteous Brothers. Each time we were told that the computer would select us the best seats available, and in each case we got excellent seats. I think the key each time was that we called early. I think we called 4 to 6 weeks in advance. In each case, we only actually picked up the tickets about an hour before showtime, so I would assume that once your order is in the computer, your ticket is sold. It doesn't matter when you pick them up. Two other suggestions would be to do as JMT suggested, and order tickets from Ticketmaster, or as a second idea, are you a member of the Monte Carlo slot club? Michael and I were not so we just went through the regular reservations number. If you are a member, I would assume that the slot club holds a number of good seats for their slot club members. Even if you don't play enough to get comp tickets, you would probably still be allowed to buy a seat in their reserved section. That's how Michael and I got to sit in the 5th row center to see O in January. We weren't comped for the tickets, but by asking Club Bellagio, we were able to buy tickets in the section reserved for members.

Beth, I'm not really into shows of any kind. But I have gone to a few and did enjoy them. And did think they had lots of talent, etc.

I like stuff like the "olden days" <g> when we could sit on the Boston Common with a bottle of wine and listen to BB King and the like.

However, Lance Burton is a must for the price especially anyone taking kids to Las Vegas.

Just a warning that Lance Burton tickets will go up $5, to $44.95 and $39.95, tax included, on September 21.

Burton has also announced New Year's Eve prices of $59.95 and $54.95, tax included.
Not bad for NYE.
