Question...I recently stayed at Paris and I grabbed the latest copy of 'Showbiz' on the way out of town to read on the plane. They had an ad for Alain Choquette appearing nightly at Paris. I did not see any advertisment for him at the hotel. I have not seen anything on the Paris homepage. Does anyone know if he is actually performing ???

Thanks :-)

check put this topic in this forum "Magician At Paris Question".
It seems to be something that is being dropped by Paris, but maybe the advertising might have already been sent in and paid for.

thanks..I went to check out the thread. I am sorry to hear that he might not be there. He is really considered a reasonable magician from what I can understand. I've even seen him on t.v. I heard a rumor that Spellbound was going to quit at the end of the year. Maybe they can get Alain. I usually try to see one or two magicians each time I go to vegas...was hoping to put Choquette on my list...darn...oh well...

As usual, thanks for the info :-)

My current information shows Alain STILL performing at Paris, but only for a few more days. His run closes Nov 11th. Alain received a poor review from the LVRJ's entertainment critic Michael Paskevich.

As I mentioned, I thought this show was mediocre at best, but it looks like others liked it less than I. A major problem with this show was the room was too big. A portion of the show included "close up" magic which would have been great in a place like the small room at Caesars Magic Empire, but it wasn't tthat impressive when viewed on a projection TV above the stage.

You mentioned "Spellbound" which will soon be closing. Ayala - the magician who stars in that show, was checking out the competition when we saw Alain. Even though you are a fan of magic, I encourage you to see Clint Holmes who will replace Spellbound at Harrahs. IMO, it's a much better show. Clint is a great singer/performer and Harrah's was smart to grab him when the Golden Nugget showroom closed down.

Mark,

Thanks for the info. I personally thought Spellbound was a pretty good show for the money. I've seen plenty of Magicians in Vegas (including spending 80bucks/person for Copperfield who does his close up magic with a close up camera on stage) as well as attending events like the yearly convention of the Texas Assoc of Magicians (this year included Harry Anderson, Jeff McBride, Rudy Coby, etc). As you can see, I've got quite alot to compare him to and I still thought his show was excellent for the money.

I am sorry to hear that Alain was not liked at Paris. I hope he tries to get on at Magical Empire.

I will give some thought to going to see the new Harrah's performer, although I'm really waiting to see what Cassidy is gonna do at the Rio next year.

Have you heard anything about the mystery/dinner theater thingy, I think it might be at one of the downtown hotels. I don't really like to go downtown but might venture down there again if I heard good comments. I wish Vegas had more of that sort of thing. I like the 'eating while entertaining' concept. :-)

Thanks
