The Scintas Performed At The Lil
The Scintas Performed At The Lil
Today was opening day of the lil' Cajun's baseball season and normally they find someone from the league to do the National Athem.

Today we were treated to a pleasent surprise, The Scintas paid us a visit to sing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The U.S.A." and our National Anthem.

They put so much feeling into the songs as they sang them that there couldn't have been a dry eye out there today. If there was a dry one, that person was probably not breathing and needed CPR.

With scores of American Flags waved by the parents in the stands of the Little Leaguers on the field, as we gave blessings to our troops fighting the war, the Scintas gave an excellent performance to a very patriotic crowd of little league baseball fans.

This sounds really nice ...how long does the season run, Cajun? I'd like to come out and watch that little Cajun with the rocket arm ...you know, the one that looks like an Angel but requires occasional visits to school by Papa Cajun<g>.

Daisy.....That is lil' Cajun #2. And YES, the Dean has our number on his speed dial list in his office. That's not a good thing. confused

You should have been here today, the lil' Cajun started off on the mound and was there into the 6th (last inning) of the game. His team took an early lead (3-1) and kept it until the last inning.

The the lil' Cajun was showing signs of getting tired on the mound. So the coach pulled him off the hill, put him at second base. Then the coach went through four pitchers and all of them could not pitch as well as the lil' Cajun was pitching when he was tired.

That was at the top of the last inning and those four pitchers gave up three runs to give the other team the lead at 4-3. Now we have to score two runs to win the game.

We tie the game up with one run scored and ended up with runners on 2nd & 3rd with one out. The next at bat strikes out and the lil' Cajun is now at the plate with 2 outs, winning run on 3rd and he is 0-3 for the day. YES, we sorta had our doubts, since he was down on himself about being pulled from the mound and hasn't had a hit in this game yet.

He fakes bunt twice, draws a ball on the first pitch and gets a strike on the second pitch. With a 1-1 count the coach gives him the hit away sign. Here comes the next pitch and he swings at it, drives it low over the second base and brings in the winning run.

The lil' Cajun is the game hero today, he gets carried off the field by his team mates and gets the game ball.

We celebrated at a sports grill after the game, I let him have anything he wanted to eat while I had several tall glasses of Guinness with the coaches. wink

BTW: The regular season runs through the end of May with playoffs into mid June. If he makes All-Stars again then they will be playing into July for the District tournament, and could go all summer if they win District and advance to State and Regionals.

Ralph,
Sounds like a real great time at the old ball park! Who knows, maybe Daisy can drag us along for a game in late May!

Sounds like a plan.....If we had an early Staurday morning game, then we might make a trip to the lake after the game, IF the other lil' Cajun doesn't have a game later in the day. That happens a lot on Saturday, one will have a game in the morning and the other later in the afternoon, kind of shoots the hell out of the whole day.

Here's the late May schedule for the lil' Cajun #2, that's the one with the "rocket arm". wink

Tuesday May 13th 7:30pm
Thursday May 15th 7:30pm
Saturday May 17th 9:00am
Tuesday May 20th 7:30pm
Thursday May 22nd 7:30pm

All these games are played at Arroyo Grande field #9. This sports complex is in Green Valley and not far from Green Valley Ranch Station.

If you aren't here on a Saturday, maybe you can make one of the Tues or Thurs night games at 7:30pm. Those night games are nice, the sun is on it's way down and the heat factor is reduced. Maybe you can plan on a trip over to Green Valley Ranch Station or Sunset Station on one of those night games and meet us at the ballfield for the game.

Ralph,
I'm looking at the following week!
But my plans are not set yet, so I'll ask where he's playing, when I know for sure I'm coming to LV or not.

I'll keep you posted, the above schedule is the end of their regular season. They have playoffs right after that and we won't know that schedule until the end of the regular season.

They won again tonight 6-3 making them still undefeated at 3-0. Lil' Cajun played second base tonight, he couldn't pitch tonight after throwing six innings on Saturday, league rules. He had one hit and one RBI with several outs made on defense. And they played one of the tough teams tonight, guess we showed them who is tougher. :p
