Daisy.....That is lil' Cajun #2. And YES, the Dean has our number on his speed dial list in his office. That's not a good thing.
You should have been here today, the lil' Cajun started off on the mound and was there into the 6th (last inning) of the game. His team took an early lead (3-1) and kept it until the last inning.
The the lil' Cajun was showing signs of getting tired on the mound. So the coach pulled him off the hill, put him at second base. Then the coach went through four pitchers and all of them could not pitch as well as the lil' Cajun was pitching when he was tired.
That was at the top of the last inning and those four pitchers gave up three runs to give the other team the lead at 4-3. Now we have to score two runs to win the game.
We tie the game up with one run scored and ended up with runners on 2nd & 3rd with one out. The next at bat strikes out and the lil' Cajun is now at the plate with 2 outs, winning run on 3rd and he is 0-3 for the day. YES, we sorta had our doubts, since he was down on himself about being pulled from the mound and hasn't had a hit in this game yet.
He fakes bunt twice, draws a ball on the first pitch and gets a strike on the second pitch. With a 1-1 count the coach gives him the hit away sign. Here comes the next pitch and he swings at it, drives it low over the second base and brings in the winning run.
The lil' Cajun is the game hero today, he gets carried off the field by his team mates and gets the game ball.
We celebrated at a sports grill after the game, I let him have anything he wanted to eat while I had several tall glasses of Guinness with the coaches.
