   La Reve?
   La Reve?
Has anyone on Talk Vegas been to LaReve - or know if discounted tickets are available?

I keep thinking I would probably like this show. Maybe this is the trip to find out.

And if no one has been to it, I can "take one for the team."

Kes, we seen it on the same trip we tried out the Wynn hotel. I enjoyed it. But the show itself is rather hard to explain. But a lot of diving, stage rises and falls into a circular pool. Comedy inbetween the "dreams" was cute. I'm glad I went, but it's not something I would need to see again. Remember, the front couple of rows you might get wet. But we where in those and didn't get a drop on us.

Kestral-

When we were there in Aug I did notice La Reve tickets at the 1/2 price places. Good luck and have a great trip...we'll be missing all of you frown

It sure will be lonely around here!

I never really had any desire to see LE REVE. It's looks like a rip-off of "O". The few people I know that have seen it said "O" is better. But maybe at half-price......

Kes - if you do see it, I'll look forward to knowing what you think!

We will be awaiting your report. (See ya next week!) I have Menopause, Price is Right, Danny Gans (again), and Ann Margaret booked for next week's shows. Are you joining us for dinner in the Cortez room Monday night??

We saw Le Reve and enjoyed it mainly becasue I enjoy the challange of figureing out how it's done, and I gotta admit that this one is another real challange similar to the challange offered by "O".

We had front row seats and got splashed a bit but any seat in the house is the best seat in the house because it is a Theater in the Round with a pool of water as the giant stage.

I forget the story but it is about some kid haveing a dream of some sort.

We saw it opening week so we filled out cards about how we liked the show and I made one recommendation.

The sleeping kid should be a young, good looking opera singer and end the show with some phenominal opera song before the final curtain. Or maybe even change that role so Brightman could take that part and briing everyone to their feet before the curtain drops

The performers do a great job but it's still too much like jumping into and out of an elaborate swimming pool without the sounds of Marco Polo.

I had to dig deep to find this old topic.

I saw Le Reve last night. Tickets were free and I have heard it had been through some major changes.

It indeed has changed. It has changed quite a bit, even if you've seen it before. Of course they can't change the rising stages much. And there is limited overhead options for changes. There are new scenes and new props.

The front 3 rows were designated as a splash zone. I was in row 4. Not only did I get splashed on here and there, there is no dry zone that I could tell. First of all, there is a little pest in the show, that splashes the crowd. Not horribly, but just enough to be irritating. Also it seemed to me that there were several situations where an aerialists would be lowered into the water then swing wildly on the trapeze slinging water all of the rows.

It's still hard to explain. Will, there is now a pretty young girl that lies on the bed. I think the basic story line is that her boyfriend goes off to work and she goes to bed and has wild dreams. At the end, the boyfriend comes back and they wave good bye to the characters in her dream.

I think it is a much better show than when I saw it a couple of years ago. There are discounts for locals and tourists. O is better, but O costs a whole lot more.

Thanks, JMT, but I seem to recall that I liked Reve better than O for some reason.

The main thing I recall about "O" was the disappearing curtain effect at the very beginning and the Salvador Dali scene that followed immediately thereafter.

The rest of that show was just too much swinging back and forth above the water and I've seen way to much fire dancing in Hawaii to enjoy it any more.

But I do have to admit that the pool and how it worked was an amazing feat of engineering and held my attention completely throughout the performance.

I enjoyed Reve because the setting was so intimate. Every seat in the house was as good as any other and the performers were excellent if I remember correctly. But as previously mentioned, the show needed a much more powerful performer at its conclusion.

I had family members in Mystere and I know a lot of the Cirque performers in each of the LV productions and have to admit that Ka is the very best and Zumanity is the very worst in my humble estimation.

Love was good but I never was a Beatles fan.

But I did enjoy the sets and the "exploding" VW. I was told that the original plans for that production included four Beatles impersonators who were to do the actual singing but Yoko Ono stopped that from happening when she first reviewed the close to opening rehersals.

I wonder if this present CIty Center boo-ha-ha will have any affect on the forthcoming Cirque Elvis show that is planned to open there?

Are any of you folks getting a bit tired of Cirque style performances in Las Vegas yet?

The last time I saw LeReve, I was so very close to saying that I understood the storyline even though the show had just gone through an overhaul. That was less than a year ago. I saw the show again last night. It has been overhauled again with new costumes, new music, new acts, etc. I know much less about the show than I ever have.

It would be easier to say what has not changed. The show is still based on a couple that goes for a walk, gets separated, things happen, and they are reunited. The stage set up is still the same, although some of the various parts come up at different times with different acts on them. The baby in the orb is the same. The doves scene is about the same. Some of the drop down props are the same.

Some of the changes are familiar, but changed. For instance, the girl that lays down on the bed doesn't happen any more. She still comes on with her boyfriend, they still wonder about being separated. But he gets slid off by a moving stage. She finds a park bench on some grass, sits on it, and spins around and sinks. They still have the 4 clown guys, but they have a different skit. They still have the 2 strong guys, but their role has changed. There are many acts that are mostly new but sorta familiar.

I think they have done a great job with the show. They are certainly keeping it fresh since the last time I saw it was less than a year ago. This is probably my favorite version of this show. Others must have thought so too. On this Tuesday night, the show room was about 85-90% full. People on both sides of me were full rate paying guests. The show was a few minutes late starting and lasted over 80 minutes.
