   Smith & Wollensky
   Smith & Wollensky
When Gene and I were in las vegas last year they were just putting the finishing touches on Smith & Wollensky. As my husband is a meat lover...he began to salivate at the thought of another steakhouse I said sorry honey..not this trip they're still building it. I think it finally opened last november or december......can anyone give me a review of the place? How is it for lunch???dinner???do you need reservations???how does it compare to others??

Carrie, I hope everyone that attended the April dinner at S & W will jump in here. First of all, it is NOT cheap. Dinner per person averaged $70 for our group. The food and service were outstanding and you MUST have a reservation. I would call from home before you left for Las Vegas.
There is a seafood appetiser that we did not get that looked fantastic. You order the seafood by the piece. I don't think anyone was disappointed when a group from this bb went there in April. We all piled into a limo at Caesars and went to S & W. It was fun. We all walked back to Caesars since we were stuffed<G>
The average price of $70 per person included appetisers and drinks. I don't remember if that included the tip.

Carrie: In April I also attended the dinner, and I believe we all really enjoyed our dinners--I know I sure did. Portions are HUGE and are meant to be shared--in fact the servers encourage it, so don't go overboard ordering individual dishes and waste the money when you can easily share them with Gene. There is no second plate charge either.

Even though we all knew we could order and share dishes, we didn't do that and ended up with a lot of food. If you do it that way, as John said, your bill should be in the $70 - $80 range depending on any wine ordered and appetizers, dessert, and coffee.

V, should we clarify that the food portion of the bill was $10 per person and the drink portion was $60<G>
Just kidding.

I'm not sure who to believe Veronica or John...I've followed the antics of this group for a while it could be true $10 for food and $50 for drinks has a "true" ring to it.

Carrie, I can tell that you are a very wise and perceptive lady. You are probably beautiful also. So you can tell you should believe me over Veronica<G>

Carrie, I can see your point on not knowing who to trust. I know both parties, and IF they walked all the way back to the hotel (without incident), the bulk of the money was not spent on drinks.

I was not there that evening, so I can't be a tiebreaker. I remember the trip reposrts said they walked back, but it seems there was some kind of exception. Maybe someone stopping at Bellagio. I don't remember. All I know is that they wouldn't walk that far if they were toasted.

Hey now! Ask Lee Ann...she's our DD <g>. She will tell you we were all capable of walking back, excluding JC of course.

Carrie,
You can believe Veronica. Veronica, Linda, Micky, Michael and I walked back to Caesar's, because my husband was too cheap to pay for the limo ride back. <vbg> Can't tell you what happened to John and Walt. We had no idea where they were for hours. <vbg>

I'm beginning to see a pattern ...John is the "sweet talker" and if you ever want the real story ask Lee Ann and Veronica....but sometimes you have to watch Veronica and ask Lee Ann for the scoop!!
