The Redwoods $12.95 Porterhouse Special is a great deal. Is this listed on the menu or is it one of those things you have to know about? It's been awhile since my last trip to the place.

Lee, It's not on the menu, although it is heavily promoted throughout the casino, in their slot club newsletter, and probably several other places. Don't be afraid to ask for it!!! It's one of the finest downtown values in my little world. I define "value" as a good quality to price ratio...unlike the LVA which defines value as cheap, without regard to quality.

Lee,

Dito what Joe said. I've noticed posters in the casino about it. I seem to remember one just outside the buffet by the mens room.

Besides it being a good steak, you get the relish tray, salad, potato, vegetable, and hot apple dumpling with ice cream and cinnamon sauce.

I've only eaten at the Redwood one time and I thought that special wasn't on the menu! Thanks for affirming that guys!

Joe, You are figuring value the correct way. LVA, is all about cheap. While I'm not against shaving some $$$ of my LV trips, I don't wish to live on garbage either.

Jeff, have you ever eaten there with a large group? I know the Pasta Pirate does a lot of large groups.

Sam,

The Redwood is in the California, downtown.

Lee,
I ate there with a group of 7 in October. They did a fine job with us. Patti had some left over she wanted to take. She asked for some bread. Someone made a kidding remark about a fork and knife. When we got back to our room we found her leftover steak. Some fresh vegetables and potatos, a complete loaf of bread, a fork and steak knife plus a bottle of steak sauce!

Jeff,
Sounds like they took care of you!

Think I'm gonna give this one a try in 2 weeks and see what the troops (Sandy & Sue) think. While I like the places we've been eating on our Vegas trips, I just want to try a couple of differnt places. The Redwood will be a nice fit for a downtown dinner at night.

D.A.G.,

My husband, Fred, has had success by wearing a red flashing emergency light on his cap.<g>
It fits right in with LV.<g>
