My next trip will have a $50 Caesars dining credit attached.....where should I spend it if I want to blow it on one good meal?

Daisy, I like Neros. However, I have not tried the other restaurants at Caesars so you may get some feedback from others on those. I can't see blowing a $50 dining credit in an Oriental restaurant. I love the food, but I think it's overpriced at Caesars.

Well, I already learned something....I didn't know Caesars had an Oriental restaurant<g>. I agree with you on that one; there are too many good low-priced alternatives available.

Daisy,
Don't make the same mistake that I did earlier this year. I had the $50 meal deal but I didn't realize that the restaurants were only open for dinner and I had already planned my evenings, meeting other members or going to shows. Then when my final evening arrived, the one that I had planned to go to was closed on that certain day. From what I saw on the menus posted outside the doors, $50 ought to cover 1 person OK, but if you take somebody else bring a little extra money.
As far as the Empress Court, it had the most reasonable prices of all, with a few unique dishes that I was going to try. The Italian place, Terraza, was going to be my second choice. But I ended up coming home without spending "their" $50.

Layne, good point. I hope to catch a couple of shows, so my decision may come down to whatever is open<g>.

Daisy, I have had two $100 offers that made for pretty good stories.

One was a dinner at Neros for just myself. I had a Porterhouse steak, salad, baked potato, asparagus, and iced tea. Total bill was $98 and some change. Therefore I'm guessing a $50 won't buy a full meal deal, although you could make a basic meal out of it.

Another time was when just never had time to use the $100 dining credit during the stay. So one night I made it to the room extremely intoxicated with a beer in each hand. I " thought" I was okay. So I called room service and ordered up 4 shrimp dinners. Then I passed out. The next thing I remembered was the room service delivery guy was cussing me out pretty good. He had set up the 4 dinners in my room while I was passed out, and he was telling me how stupid I was for ordering this stuff when I was in no shape to eat it, and couldn't possibly eat it all. Total bill was $102.00....I think. I ate all the shrimp and most of the french fries.

Joe, LOL.....guess I'd just have to settle for 2 shrimp dinners. You already know I'm not a gourmand<g>, so, regardless of who is buying, how would you compare your Porterhouse dinner at Neros against the $12.95 Porterhouse special downtown at Second Street Grill? Is the meal or the atmosphere really worth the $99 difference?

For taste, the steak at the Redwood was better. For size, the one at Neros was about 20% bigger. Both steaks were pretty good. Just because the one at Redwood is $13, don't confuse it with a coffee shop steak. This is a steak from the gourmet restaurant, as was Neros.

At Neros, you pay for attention to detail...to a fault. They are so worried about giving you 14 untinsels to eat with, they forget how to bake a potato. Or there might be 3 different waiters asking you if you need anything, and nobody to bring it out. You might ask for more bread, and it never show up, but they come by 4 times to refill your iced tea. While the asparagus was very good, I failed to get my moneys worth. I felt like I was paying for an overstaffed crew, extra table clutter, the Nero copper coated theme, and extended table spacing. If you got a $50 credit and want a steak, no problem. You'll probably enjoy it. You'd be way out on a limb to call it the best $100 steak dinner in town.

Daisy: I been to Nero's a bunch of times now and have enjoyed every meal, so you won't go wrong if you choose this Caesars restaurant. That takes care of the one good meal you asked about.

Otherwise, unless your coupon specifically states it must be used in one of the gourmet dining rooms, you could hit the coffee shop once for breakfast and La Piazza for breakfast and/or lunch or snacks. It won't take too long to hit the $50 mark spending it this way.

this summer we enjoyed the Empress immensely. It has been a year since we have been to the Palace Court, but we were disappointed compared to other gourmet rooms in Vegas that we have visited. Just a little imput........Happy eating.

Veronica, I just re-read the offer, and it's a $50 food/beverage credit in ANY Caesars lounge or restaurant. Doesn't the Forum lounge have a jazz group playing a couple nights a week?

Paula and Mike, what type of food does the Empress serve? When I first posted this question, Palace Court was in the back of my mind, so thanks for your input on that...maybe I'll just go up and enjoy the piano bar there?

Daisy: There is live entertainment in the Forum Lounge Fridays - Tuesdays 10 pm - 3 am. Sometimes it's a jazz band, sometimes R & B. There's no food served there, so your $50 would buy you LOTS of drinks <g>.

There is also very good live entertainment in the La Piazza Lounge Tuesdays - Thurdays 9 pm - 2 am ; Fridays & Saturdays 10:30 pm -3:30 am. They have good pizza to order there or you can hit the La Piazza food court before it closes. A very good bakery there!

I know you have already seen Magical Empire, but is that also included as one of your choices?

One other thing: to get the $50 credit you need to charge all the food/bev to your room and it will be automatically taken off your hotel bill. BUT, be sure before you check out that it has been deducted. I can't tell you how many times my bill has not reflected that credit and had to be straightened out by someone at check-out.

One thing about Caesars hotel bills: they are screwy to read. I'm still looking at October's bill to figure it out if it's right. Walt says it is, but even he gets confused by the way a Caesars bill reads.

Daisy, I've had the filet/tenderloin at Nero's twice. It was great both times. It was $30. So you would still have $20 to spend on other items. The $50 should be fine. Don't forget that the food credit doesn't include the tip. You must pay that yourself.

Joe, how the heck did you run up a $98 bill at Neros? You must have had a few Buds on that bill also<G>
I don't remember a porterhouse steak being on the menu, but then I wasn't looking for anything other than the filet, so when I found it I stopped reading the rest of the menu.
I think I had Oysters, the filet and a salad. The bill was over $50, but not very much.

V, I thought about CME, but it was such fun the last time, it just wouldn't be the same without you, Walt, Sandy, John and Miguel<g>. Experience counts...I'm REALLY good at charging stuff to my room and reading hotel bills<vbg>.

John, I love filets....so I may just try that ...so far, my best filet in Las Vegas has been at the Pullman Grill, with Luxor's Steakhouse coming in 2nd, and the Burgandy Room at Lady Luck dead last<g>. It wouldn be fun comparing Neros with the others. BTW, I am getting really hungry reading your forum tonight.

Daisy, if you get a chance, try the tenderloin at Neros and at the Palm. Both were great.
Come to think of it, the filet at Smith and Wolenskys was very good also.
I guess there are lots of places in Las Vegas to get a good steak.
