It looks like even New Year’s Eve meal prices could be starting to drop. The $300-per-person dinner at the Resort At Summerlin’s Nevada Nick’s Original Steak House has been adjusted down to $150 per person. The owner of the restaurant has been quoted as saying he changed it because he didn’t feel right about the hype for NYE and didn’t feel good about charging those prices. Those interested in the New Year's Eve dinner can pick from a 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. seating at $99 or a 9 p.m. seating that will take them past midnight for $150. Dinner guests who already have made dinner reservations at the original price will receive a gift certificate that will even out the discrepancy between the original and discounted price.

OK, opinion here...if it was me, and if canceling was allowed, I’d do it! What good is a gift certificate going to do for someone who goes to Las Vegas once a year, or maybe less in this case? This decision to still charge the originally-booked guests double what the guy next to you is paying doesn’t sound too well-thought out, so if Nevada Nick’s decides to back down on this, someone let us know.

V, he didn't feel right about charging that much? YEA, RIGHT!
No one was booking at the $300 rate so he lowered the price!!

Andre’s Restaurant offers 2 New Year’s Eve dinner celebration packages: Dinner for 8 for $24,000 or 24 for $30,000. Don’t ask me what either one includes because I have no clue—just that these options are still available.

So far Andre Rochat, owner of Andre’s French restaurants downtown and in the Monte Carlo has had no one make a reservation for either one of the packages. He blames concern over Strip traffic that night, hotel owners charging too much for rooms, and fears of Y2K that have made people decide to stay home instead. Yeah, that’s the ticket!
