Veronica --
I've eaten at Bachannal in Las Vegas twice, both some time ago. First time was my first trip to Vegas, in 1993; second time was my second trip to Vegas, I believe in 1994.
My first meal at Bachannal actually is in my top 10 meals of all time. Maybe the atmosphere, and the fact that it was my first trip to Las Vegas, and the fact that our "Wine Goddess" truly was a goddess, contribute favorably to the memory, but that's how I remember it nonetheless.
My second meal there was much less memorable. The food was only good. Maybe the fact that it was the early seating during mid-week (and thus only 1/4 full), and the fact that our "Wine Goddess" was NOT a goddess, contibute to my less than favorable view of this trip. Or maybe it was just that it couldn't live up to my first memory.
I definitely would try it again on another trip. If you haven't been, I think it's worth a visit, especially if you're with a fun-loving group. Of course, you always could try the Bachannal in Atlantic City -- there, they have "Wine Gods" who give neck rubs to the female patrons too! :-) The food at the Atlantic City version is not nearly as good as the food in Las Vegas, but it's about half the price.

I can see it now. "Welcome Mr. High Roller. Come spend some time at our new Asian Noodle Bar". Right! Just what some high roller is looking for, and Asian noodle bar!<G> ------------------ John Moderator Dining Forum john@talkvegas.com

Doug, you're probably right. It's just that an Asian Noodle Bar doesn't sound that great to me. Of course I have not tried one so I may be mistaken. I always envisioned high rollers sitting in real plush restaurants surrounded by a bunch of waiters catering to their every whim. ------------------ John Moderator Dining Forum john@talkvegas.com

Speaking of noodles in high class places!
If I recall right, there is a very fancy noodle counter at one of the high limit Baccarat pits in the Tropicana!
I don't mean to say that the noodles themselves are "fancy", but the counter and immediate surroundings appeared to be designed to attract high rollers who find less than attractive noodles more than slightly appealing.
I guess every country has its own preferences in fine dining, but I myself cannot put noodles of any kind in a high priority on the dining scale.
I've traveled just about everywhere and usually ordered noodles when my budget was somewhat limited or down to the last buck or two.
My original preference was Franco American in the can while I was a starving student in college. Then I eventually graduated to moodles of a higher class which I didn't like quite as much as those found in the can.
I soon discovered that I was an expert "Noodeler" after spending a few desperate years attempting to make a living as a free lance drifter in Japan.
I had noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And even noodle snacks between meals. Fresh store bought noodles, round noodles, flat noodles, and hand made noodles made in an old traditional style by the same family for centuries in the same noodle factory or ancient country kitchen where an ancient proprietor would watch with pride from a distance while you enjoyed your noodle meal.
I've stood in line for hours at a time waiting for my noodle feast in a brand new Japanese Noodle House that just opened its shoji doors that very afternoon.
I've had noodles with fish, and tripe, and chicken, and eggs, and hundreds of other toppings and mysterious mixings that have made them unique and original and a pride to their originators.
And all that time, I could never taste a difference between noodle "A" and noodle "B". I would enjoy them all to the same degree that I often enjoy a hamburger or a fish filet at McDonalds.
So it came to me as quite a surprise to see a fancy noodle counter in a fancy Baccarat pit in the Tropicana.
Place those noodles over a perfect slice of Lawrey's prime rib or a beautiful lobster thermador and I'd call that a decent meal worthy of a high class casino.
But noodles with anythng less is not a classy meal to me.
