WOW Lee. That is quite a list. You could save a lot of money if you used the book for most of your dining. I noticed places that serve breakfast on the list as well as lunch and dinner places. That's a pretty good selection.

Actully a lot of places that serve booze are on the list too. If you where living in Vegas, I could see value here. But as most of these places are off the strip (not all) or away from downtown (not all) it really doesn't serve the avrage tourist very well, IMO.
Have you noticed, Las vegas has some very odd names for dining choices?

Good Lord, I got writers cramp just from looking at that list.

I'm not as happy with this years offerings but I ordered it the other day. They have special pricing if you order more than one book (as long as it's not your hometown). It saved me an extra $9.95 off the price of 2 books. We purchased Vegas and New Orleans. Those with our Wichita, KS book make three. We always get at least our money back and generally quite a bit more.

I agree there is still value here, but it is getting harder to justify the purchase of the book if you only go once a year!

Actually, as long as they don't put the name of the city on the card, we'll use the card again here at home. So far we've never had any problem with it.

Generally I find I can at least save the price of the book when we travel. But I never buy a book unless I'm going to be in a city for at least 7 nights. Either all at once or in multiple trips.

Here at home we use the card to death. Last year I ended up with 5 cards. Two from our hometown books and three out of town books. One card looked like swiss cheese by the time I was done with it. All of them had a minimum of 3 punches in them.

We've purchased Entertainment books for our hometown for several years now. It always seems to be hit or miss. Generally, it's an every other year thing. This, of course, is the other year. So I only purchased one hometown book.

As for the merchants side of the coin. Yes, we do get a lot of free meals. On the plus side we have found some gems that we return to several times a year. One little Italian place clear on the other side of town gets at least 6 visits from us each year now. Even though they are no longer in the book. For Vegas, Barley's Brew Pub will start seeing my face more often. I would never have searched them out if not for the card. Same with Limiricks and Marco Polo downtown. I wouldn't have ever been in either if not for the Entertainment book. As for the Station casino's, I doubt they see very much of us now. We didn't particularly care for the casino or it's offerings when we visited Sunset Station. Without the discount meal, there's no need for us to head that way. With the meal we'd at least be through the door. Probably stop and spend money elsewhere while we would have been there. maybe buisness will drop off enough there back next year? I sort of doubt it though.

Lee Thanks for the list think we will pass on book this time because we don't rent a car.And to all this board is so wonderful to visit before a trip. Have not been mislead once.

We too did the local ent. book for many years, but the book has been so bad locally lately, we don't bother anymore. Besides, we are creatures of habit, and as long as the restaurants we are now visiting keep serving the kinds of food that is currently coming out of the kitchens, we're fat & happy! LOL

I can understand why you'd pass on the book without a car. The main problem is, the car is where we store the book while we're on vacation, so we always have it handy. I wouldn't want to lug that book around either! LOL

I think that's why Station pulled their coupons from the book. They're pretty much the only game in town off the strip.

I'm not sure if the Wild Wild West is still in there (Gamblers Grill) but THAT was an interesting stop. Shelley likes to collect slot club cards and we happpened by that little jewel at about 3 am. Lovely place (sarcasim dripping with every word) but no slot club. It's the only place were we've been followed out to the car. I think she was a prostitute wannabe who turned around when she figured out I was with Shelley. Or it could have been my imagination and she heard a hot slot machine calling her name (or her parole officer).
They did have a gimick though. If you hit 4 of a kind on VP, they'd toss in a 12 pack of pepsi. Whoo Hoo, cancell the flight home honey, were drinking pepsi tonight! I just hit 4 dueces.

That Wild West is a real treat. I think at 3am, I'd ask security to walk me out to my car. That is a scary place even in the daytime. My one rule of thumb when inside a place like that....Do Not Make Eye Contact! LOL

Believe it or not the Wild Wild West is considered a truck stop by the locals. I have not been there in ages, but I don't remember ever hearing about anything dangerous happening there. Any other locals know anything?

I think truck stop is a good description of the place. I didn't see any knives or guns but it definately wasn't a tourist friendly place.

One of my memories of the Wild Wild West is watching some guy fall off his VP stool on to the floor, then get up and profess, "I'm not drunk" LOL

Lee, I can't imagine why they acquired it. The only reason I can think of is that it makes money and was available. As we all know, all that matters is the bottom line.

Thanks SO much for all your typing. For whatever it's worth your work saved me $30 or so dollars. I was going to buy the book sight unseen which I do every year. I always at least break even on the purchase. After reading the list I don't think I would have even used it once. We go to LV 3 to 4 times a year, but unless you're a local the book doesn't sound very worthwhile this year for us tourists.
