   25th Anniversary Dinner
   25th Anniversary Dinner
I was really shocked when I asked Patti if she'd like to go to Mexico for our anniversary and she suggested Vegas!

Now I need to pick a place for dinner.

Where would you go?

I know it's not the most romantic place in town but I was thinking about Emerils at the MGM basically cause I've always wanted to eat there and haven't done so yet.

Senator,
This is a hard question. They have sooooo many good choices in this town.I guess it depends on the person? My last two visits to Emerils could have been better.I think having McDonald's,Nathan's etc.like 30 feet away takes a lot out of the experiance IMHO.I like the Palm a lot and there's so many other great places.I just think it's a state of mind Papamio's would be fine with me if the food was good and the company too.If you like Emerils go for it!Remember it's you two you want to please not us out here. Many moons ago I had an anniversary and we had pizza!! Now I think back that was one of the best times I can remember.....Good luck on your difficult choice and enjoy and happy returns.TTYL.

Senator,
I think Charlie Palmer Steakhouse in the Four Seasons would be on my short list for a memorable dinner. Seasons at Ballys would be another choice I would have to weigh in. There are also a couple of places at Mandalay bay that look interesting, but for a special event, I'd pick one of the above two.

If I ever have another need for a memorable semi-romantic meal in Vegas, Seasons would be on my short list.

I think Emerils is a hit and miss thing. You might have the meal of your life or you might want a refund. I think a big key to having a good meal at Emerils is to not take John with you.

I think Bob G hit the nail on the head - it is whatever the two of you would "enjoy". If Caesars still had Bacchnal. I would certainly recommend it even tho it was "pricey". Congratulations and enjoy whatever you select. Wendell

Has anyone been to Hugo's Cellar recently? It's probably been 7-8 years for me but I remember it being pretty special.

Guess I was thinking Emeril's more for the food than the atmosphere.

Thanks for the ideas!

Joe, Emerils just did not recognize class when they saw it. Just because I had mustard stains on my shirt and hadn't slept or shaved for 3 days, I resented them thinking I was a homeless vagrant and telling me to go to Fatburger.
See if I go there again<G>

Jeff, I was at Hugos about 3 years ago. The thing I remember is it was noisy. The food was good though.

You are correct John, when I think about class, I never think of Emeril.

Not sure how much you wanted to spend, but we ate at Aqua at Bellagio in April and it may have been the best dinner we have had in Vegas. The service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. I had the vegetarian tasting menu (nothing hippie or tofu about it) and Mike had the regular tasting menu (heavy on the seafood). Both were great. With a glass of wine, total bill with tip was $206. And worth it.

I think that there are several restaurants at Bellagio that would be a good choice.

For a special romantic dinner, I'd choose Aureole at Mandalay Bay, or Aqua or Picasso at Bellagio.

Aqua is sounding like it might be the place. The tasting menu with lots of seafood sounds good to me.

Thanks for all the input.
