Pasta Pirate still has the special. However it's not listed on the menu, but on a board as you enter the resturant, listing the specials. A glass of house wine is also included.

The Palm still has the lunchon, however the price has gone up to $15 and some new meals have been added and some taken away. The Lunchon Filet is still on that menu and still a bargin.

Pasta Pirate is indeed downtown, inside the California Hotel/Casino. The steak special is a pretty good deal. Check for my wife and I was about $25. If you are downtown and in the mood for steak, go for it. Nice little restaurant with good atmosphere. The casino is nothing remarkable as far as being an attraction, but appears to be clean and well kept up.

As you've already been told, Pasta Pirate is in the California, downtown. If you're not staying downtown and have a car, I suggest parking at Main Street Station. You can use the overhead walkway to cross into the Cal.

I always call for a reservation. They have a steak & lobster special, I think it's $11.99. A filet special for the same price. On the menu is filet and lobster for about $15. There's always a fresh fish special but it changes. Choose the soup instead of the salad, kind a choipino <sp>. I normally get the mixed grill but you'd better be hungry. Great warm bread with herbed butter.

I didn't see the special on the menu they had posted outside when we were there in Feb. I may have missed it. The Pirate doesn't open umtil 5:30 and we were early so we tried the Buffet at mainstreet station. IMHO it wasn't worth the $12 per person charge.
Wished I had stayed around until the Pirate opened instead. I like the atmosphere in there and the service was very good.

Chris,

The specials board at Pasta Pirate is just on your left as you enter teh place. It would be real easy to miss if psople were standing there.

Sorry to hear you didn't like the buffet at MSS. Can't say I've ever been disapointed in it. Probably eaten there a dozen times.

We just ate 2 nites ago at the Pasta Pirate for the 1st time, thanks to the tips from everyone here. What a great deal! and a great place! My husband had the steak and lobster special for $11.99 and I had the filet special for $10.99. Excellent service, too.

Gail, glad you enjoyed the Pasta Pirate. It is a great place and one of those "Las Vegas Secrets" we all love to discover.

Are there any other really great ones like Pasta Pirate on your list? I know about the lunch special at the Palm, but that's about it.

Gail - if you think Pasta Pirate is great, try the Pullman Grill at Main Street Station, across the street from the California - if you do, I'll be interested in your evaluation. Wendell (Reservations highly recommended)

Gail,

I'll second the Pullman Grill. Another good one is right next to the Pasta Pirate, the Redwood Grill. Ask for the porterhouse special that's not on the menu.

Lily Langtree's at the Golden Nugget has great steaks, great chinese and very good service in a real nice room.

Besides the ones already mentioned, add the Brewpub at Main Street Station for good food and a casual atmosphere.
Behind Caesars on Industrial is Tommy Rockers. It is a bar, but they have great ribs and other food. It is not fancy. On Sat nights Tommy entertains starting at 10 pm. It is the official home of Jimmy Buffet Parrotheads in Las Vegas.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. We ate at the Pullman Grille a couple years ago based on recommendations from here. I had forgotten about that one. We did enjoy it very much and thought it was a good value.
