I was wondering if the still have there steak and lobster special. Heard somewhere that they didn't anymore. Also does anyone know if the Palm still has there price fixed lunch?
Pasta Pirate still has the special. However it's not listed on the menu, but on a board as you enter the resturant, listing the specials. A glass of house wine is also included.
The Palm still has the lunchon, however the price has gone up to $15 and some new meals have been added and some taken away. The Lunchon Filet is still on that menu and still a bargin.
Lee the reason I was asking about the Palm lunch was on there web site the fixed price isn't listed anymore. So I thought maybe the had stopped it.Glad to here I can still get that steak and those cottage fries YUM YUM!!!

Pasta Pirate is indeed downtown, inside the California Hotel/Casino. The steak special is a pretty good deal. Check for my wife and I was about $25. If you are downtown and in the mood for steak, go for it. Nice little restaurant with good atmosphere. The casino is nothing remarkable as far as being an attraction, but appears to be clean and well kept up.

As you've already been told, Pasta Pirate is in the California, downtown. If you're not staying downtown and have a car, I suggest parking at Main Street Station. You can use the overhead walkway to cross into the Cal.
I always call for a reservation. They have a steak & lobster special, I think it's $11.99. A filet special for the same price. On the menu is filet and lobster for about $15. There's always a fresh fish special but it changes. Choose the soup instead of the salad, kind a choipino <sp>. I normally get the mixed grill but you'd better be hungry. Great warm bread with herbed butter.

Thanks Senator, I am definately going to check this one out on this trip - will definately make a reservation and ask for your favorite waiter. Wendell
I didn't see the special on the menu they had posted outside when we were there in Feb. I may have missed it. The Pirate doesn't open umtil 5:30 and we were early so we tried the Buffet at mainstreet station. IMHO it wasn't worth the $12 per person charge. Wished I had stayed around until the Pirate opened instead. I like the atmosphere in there and the service was very good.
We just ate 2 nites ago at the Pasta Pirate for the 1st time, thanks to the tips from everyone here. What a great deal! and a great place! My husband had the steak and lobster special for $11.99 and I had the filet special for $10.99. Excellent service, too.

Gail - if you think Pasta Pirate is great, try the Pullman Grill at Main Street Station, across the street from the California - if you do, I'll be interested in your evaluation. Wendell (Reservations highly recommended)

Gail,
I'll second the Pullman Grill. Another good one is right next to the Pasta Pirate, the Redwood Grill. Ask for the porterhouse special that's not on the menu.
Lily Langtree's at the Golden Nugget has great steaks, great chinese and very good service in a real nice room.
Besides the ones already mentioned, add the Brewpub at Main Street Station for good food and a casual atmosphere. Behind Caesars on Industrial is Tommy Rockers. It is a bar, but they have great ribs and other food. It is not fancy. On Sat nights Tommy entertains starting at 10 pm. It is the official home of Jimmy Buffet Parrotheads in Las Vegas.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. We ate at the Pullman Grille a couple years ago based on recommendations from here. I had forgotten about that one. We did enjoy it very much and thought it was a good value.

I'll second John's recommendation on the Bewpub at Main Street Station.
We got our steak and beer fix well satisfied there - the rest of the menu looked pretty good, too. I just had to have steak - had one too many convention chicken meal at that point.
I was surprised to see the sushi bar in the corner of the brewpub! Any sushi fans out there try this one? Beer and sushi are great together, it just seemed out of place with the rest of the casual brewpub atmosphere.

I haven't had sushi there. I have indulged in a bucket of peel and eat shrimp on several occasions and they always gave a pretty good count of tasty shrimps that go well with the beer.
Our recent trip to MSS brew pub, Our friends Dennis & Denise had some sushi there with dinner. However, I couldn't tell you what they ordered....it all looks like raw rolled up fish to me....YUCK. LOL

Well, it IS all rolled up raw fish!
Except for the lying there flat and dead on lump of rice fish.
I actually like sushi, if you like any kind of seafood at all you should give it a try. You need that beer if you put too much hot wasabi (japanese horseradish) on it. That stuff should be sold by prescription only!
The wasabi was explained to me in great detail, and it looked so harmless. LOL I think I might like to try it sometime, however I got cold feet this trip when an opertunity presented itself. The thought of being sick in Las vegas, because i tried something new has stopped me every time. Maybe this is a try at home first thing?
One other great downtown secret is the Second Street Grill at the Fremont. The biggest suprise is how nice the room is and how wonderfully the food is presented. You just wouldn't expect this from the Fremont!
