What do YOU wear to dinner?
What do YOU wear to dinner?
An interesting discussion started under another topic. I thought it deserved it's own.

The question was whether shorts were OK for restaurants like the Pullman Grill.

I said that I wouldn't be comfortable wearing shorts there. I'd wear shorts to a buffet or coffee shop for breakfast or lunch. I MIGHT wear shorts to some buffets & coffee shops for dinner.

When I was growing up, going out to dinner almost always meant a suit & tie. I guess I associate going somewhere nice for dinner with being dressed nicely.

Jeff, When I go to LV I only pack 1 pair of dress slacks, and the rest are jeans (they don't wrinkle) wink So unless I'm going to a nice place I wear jeans. Never shorts (not with my leggs) laugh

Jeff, I have to go along with you. If I'm dining at a nice restaurant like Eiffel Tower, Isis Room, Picasso, I'll wear a coat and tie. It helps that my lady friend loves to dress up too.

If I'm going to the boofay then it's whatever I happen have on my less than TV perfect body.

It all depends on the time and place.

wink laugh

I have more or less stated my do's and dont's in the post about "Pullman Restaurant"
One thing that somewhat throws me out of the picture is that I wear a short leg brace on one leg. So, other than at home, I don't wear shorts. In "Las Vegas" I wear brushed cotton blues or "Dockers". I wear either a nice polo shirt or a nice sweatshirt. If we are eating at a fancy place; I would wear slacks and polo shirt. I don't even take a sport jacket with me. It has been a long time since we have eaten at one of the extra fancy restaurants that are now in being out on the strip. I would not eat there unless maybe lunch (polo and slacks). If we did a jacket and tie is a must for me. smile smile

Personally, I think that we all are in accord on this subject and would fit in nicely at either the Cortez or Pullman - so eat hearty and enjoy, that is the bottom line. Wendell

Senator,
We've all seen the sights of Las Vegas, those crazy tourists! LOL
Maybe it's just me, but the Pasta Pirate is a tweener for me. I mean, I don't look at the Pasta Pirate as fancy. The food & Service are great, but maybe it's familarity that set in on this one, combined with all the Hawians in shorts & Sandels in the place too? I don't know, but Pasta Pirate is on the fence as shorts exceptable.
But your general rule of pants for a nice evening meal is a great one. I personally hate shorts, but for other reasons (maybe some other time I'll go into this one). But in Vegas, when it's above 100, it validates the clothing option a little more!
This past trip, I took a pair of shorts along for each day, 7 pairs came home unworn (No I didn't wear the same 2pairs for 9 days) I just feel better dressed in pants. Even at the gaming tables, I feel better in pants. Oh and guys, if you must wear shorts....please do me a favor and get the longer type, those tennis shorts went out of style a long time ago, and I really dont need to see any part of you hanging out....get my drift "DiMaggio". LOL Also, while I'm on the subject of this great topic, I don't want to leave you ladies out of this. Sleeveless tops with large arm opening, and going bra-less is only exceptable for the younger set! Please...tuck & cover! Thank You!
Now on with a few more ramblings....

Sandels on guys, bad....worse with socks.

Fanny paks....mine looks bad, but it beats bulging pockets and me swiming around in my pockets looking for the correct slot card. So between pervert or geek, geek wins! <S> Yes I know it's a strap on purse! Mine is compounded worse by the big Boulder Station Logo on the front....as if it wasn't bad enough, mine has a billboard! Note to self...get new one without the adds!

Young ladies in white tight fitting tops entering cold casinos......hey a guy can get hurt watching you and not where he's walking.....cover up! Wear a parka or some other non-form fitting artical PLEASE! LOL Oink!!!

Teeth....I know this sounds weird, but if you own a set, please wear them out in public!

Ok, enough for now......but there is more! LOL
