The Ellis Island steak special has been of the Top Ten Best Bargains in LV for a long time now. It was the $5 steak special that was the best in town and mentioned nowhere on the menu. You had to point at the picture of the steak on the menu cover for that $5 Ellis Island Steak House Special.
Just recently they raised the price of that Steak Special by $2 and to compensate, they now offer you a glass of their great home made beer with your meal.
Still a great bargain by Las Vegas standards.
When I fine dine at Ellis Island, I skip over the Steak Special and order the Prime RIb Special for jut about twice the price.
This prime rib is cooked differently than other prime rib joints and offers a greater taste. It's one of my favorite meals in town.
Ellis Island is not a classy joint by any means but it still serves some of the better meals I've even had on the Strip or ajacent to it.
Plus with each meal you get a $5 coupon to spend at one of the blackjack tables or even at the liile Craps table over there by the casino cage.
Most locals love Ellis Island so don't be surprised if you fall in love there too ...... with the meals at least.

I do find the food there to be a good bang for the buck value. I guess others do too, because I often find long lines to get to the food. I don't like the combined noises of the machines, people, and that darn PA system. It's just a little too much drama than I want when I am looking for a bargain. Parking often stinks too.
I do like the BBQ place and I do like the coffee shop/restaurant. I think the employees try very hard to do a good job. I don't mind gambling there. Their slot club isn't too shabby either.
I guess you know they started out as the Village Pub, a fairly good pub and grub with several locations around town. I think I'd rather eat at the Village Pub even though they don't have the same specials. It's a different menu, but you can kinda tell it's the same deal. And it's probably one of the best in it's class. At the end of the day, it's a consistent pub and grub and I would rather pay a couple of bucks more for a premium pub and grub.

Lunch at Ellis Island yesterday. Had the Prime Rib off the menu at $11.95 which was supposed to include a glass of beer but somehow cost a $1.50 extra. Great beer so I didn't complain.
No more $5 coupon to slap down on the Blackjack table though.
Things are changing fast there but the food was still good and worth the price.
My prime rib included a good size salad, a heavy slice of prime rib, green string beans cooked with garlic, and mashed potatos with gravy. A very satisfying meal.
Thanks JMT. I did not know about the Village Pub. Is one still in operation in LV?
