Just got back from LV and thought I'd share how I got around most of the time. I didn't rent a car this trip, so I had planned to use buses, taxis, etc., but I felt good so I walked a lot. BUT --- not outside<G> hardly at all! I started at TI, took the tram to Mirage, walked through Mirage and around the corner to the moving walkway at Caesars. Note: you can either go into the Forum Shops or cross over and take the other walkway to the casino. Go through the casino, exit and walk around the side corner (again) to get to the overhead walkway to the Bellagio. Go through Bellagio and take the tram to Monte Carlo. (this is the best part because it saves a LOT of outside walking!) Go through Monte Carlo to the entrance close to NYNY. Exit out and walk across the street, go down about 1/2 to 1 block to NYNY.
I did this twice, and did parts of the "journey" several times. I never had trouble with either of the trams -- no lines, crowds or long waits. Once, in the early morning (7AM) the tram b/t Treasure Island and Mirage was closed, so I went across the street to the Venetian instead (but that's another post!)
It sure beats walking outside in July in LV! And if you have the time and inclination, it's fun. Of course, you are forced <G> to go THROUGH all the casinos, but that's the price one must pay! (no pun intended)
I never took the tram b/t Bally's and MGM.
