Lee,
I now have my very own copy of the tape. It's like you said,"If its free, take it." But so far it is still unopened. As I mentioned to you at the meet, and as a warning to other, make sure you check the tags on some of these new cars.
When I got to Alamo, and jumped off the bus, I ended up being third in line. I got to the counter and did the paperwork in just a few minutes and headed to the brand new Camry that they had for me. I always do a walk around to check for anything that they may want to hit me up for later. I noticed that there wasn't a license tag on it but it had a temporary registration in the window. But when I looked at the date it had expired 2 days ago. I went back inside and had to go to customer service area instead of seeing the person that gave me the car. The next person gave me a Buick Regal instead. After checking this one, it expired in 3 days and I was keeping the car for 5 days. Finally, after going back again, he gave me a Chevy Blazer.
So instead of being in and out in 15 minutes, it was over an hour to finally get a vehicle and drive up the road. I wasn't totally fumed about it but I wasn't happy either. This is the second strike against them, but I'll still probably use them on the next trip and give them another try.
But as a warning, always check all paperwork and the vehicle before you leave. It might save you a lot of headaches later on.

Layne,
Your post is a good reminder, but not just on Alamo, but all rental places. I always check out the car before I pull out of the lot. But you know what? I never check the regestration tags....never! I will from now on though!
Thrifty, holds the worlds record for my Las Vegas car rental pick-ups. 5 min. shy of 2 hours! YIKES! My vacation time is like gold to me, and that was way too much of it lost! We won't be going back to Thrifty in LV, ever!
