Mapping software, Anyone have any good suggestions on a better one then the one I'm currently using.
I have used Map'n'Go, but it's not great IMO.

Lee, I Have several From Rand McNally TripMaker to MS Streets 98 and they're all about the same. I'd also like to know of a better mapping software.

Try "Mapquest.Com". It will give you directions to anywhere in the U. S. and make a map for you.

Lee,

I recently bought Rand McNally. I've heard you can mapping on-line from Yahoo.

Lee, DeLorme makes both MapnGo and Street Atlas. I use MapnGo for hotel info, but Street Atlas is much more up-to-date on map features.

All,
I'm very disapointed with Map N Go. I don't know if I was expecting too much from the software, or I just bought a poor choice for what I needed.
What IO need is something that actually breaks down to real streets and not just the big major ones. I need a door step to door step kind of map.

Dick, I've used "mapblast.com" Have you tried it? Is is anything like the one you use?

Lee, the above goes door to door.

Mapquest has given me some really bad directions in the past, and fortunately I knew enough to not use what they recommended. But I don't trust them or use them anymore, although in all fairness maybe they have updated their system in the last year or so. It's been awhile since I've used that site.

Gail recommended Mapblast in the past, and so far this one has been good and will provide door to door. It wouldn't hurt to obtain directions with another mapping site either just for comparison's sake.

V, I liked mapblast better before they "improved" it. Now it's a little tricky to maneuver but so far I've never been given wrong info on this site.

Lee, with Street Atlas, I can plug in your address and zip code.....and get a routing directly to your house. Isn't that a scary thought<vbg>?

Veronica,

I'd have to say MapQuest has apparently solved any problems you might have encountered earlier. I've just used it within the past couple of weeks to see how it works, and it provided a very good "Door to Door" map and narrative directions between
two places known to me, which were 500 miles apart. I think it's pretty slick!

Dick: Thanks so much for that info. I'll be sure to test it out again and check out the improvements.
