An article on our local news tonight says the FAA will not allow America West to acquire any more airplanes.

The story said that the FAA tries to control the growth of airlines. They want to make sure they don't grow more than what they can handle.

They mentioned the layoff of a bunch of maintenance workers a couple years ago. They didn't say if any more have been hired since. They didn't specifically mention maintenance problems, just the layoffs in the past.
