PHOENIX, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA - news), the official airline of the Arizona Diamondbacks, announced today an offer that makes the savings go up as the batters go down. During the month of June, customers who purchase tickets to or from selected cities at the America West website will receive a percentage off based on the number of strikeouts that Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson throws during home games. The discount will be valid for roundtrip tickets purchased the day following the game. For example, if Randy Johnson strikes out 10 batters on June 9, then qualifying purchases on the airline's web site on June 10 will be 10 percent off.

The minimum discount is 5 percent. There is no maximum discount. To qualify for the discounts, travelers must purchase tickets between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. (PDT) on the day following the game. Destinations included in the fare sale will change for each game. Check the web site the day after Randy Johnson pitches to find out what cities are discounted. All travel must be completed by Sept. 30, 2000. The fare sale applies to all home games during June in which Randy Johnson pitches. He is scheduled to pitch on June 9, 19, 24 and 29. A minimum 7-day advance purchase is required. Tickets are non-refundable. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or in all markets.
