I thought with all the problems with airlines these days I toss out a post about good service for once.
Last week we took a trip to Chicago to visit a friend. This trip was on SWA and we recieved a good rate of $80 R/T from KC, MO.
On our day of departure, both Chicago and Kansas City got smacked with snow storms. Because of the driving conditions, we arrived at the airport early.
We went to check our luggage about 2 1/2 hrs. early. The ticket agent adivised us the Midway was an on again, off again situation with all the snow. He advised us to go to a gate and check in for an earlier flight which was scheduled to leave in about an hour. If that one was full, we were to check onto the next flight, which was scheduled to leave before ours.
We were able to get onto the first flight, which was delayed but left the ground 1 hr before our scheduled departure. Not only did they get us there, but they got us there ahead of our originally scheduled time.
At the same time United, American, and TWA were all cancelling their flights and leaving there passengers stranded. If we had flown with those guys, we'd have been sleeping in the airport instead of a nice warm bed.
I may not like the cattle call with no assigned seats but I do like the proactive problem solving they did.
