   Costco Travel Magazine
   Costco Travel Magazine
I picked up a travel magazine at Costco on my last shopping trip and found an insert with 4 rental car coupons.

Hertz - two class car upgrade

Avis - $15 off a weekly rental (5 day minimum)

Budget - $20 off any 4-day rental

Alamo - $15 off any 3-day rental

Being the curious and thrifty type<g>, I price-checked all the rates for November. The Avis and Budget offers were pretty straight-forward, but the Alamo offer is much better than stated since it not only gave the $15 off but also slashed the base rates.

The following figures are the internet base rate for a 3-day rental, followed by the Costco rates.

Compact car - $81/$71
Midsize car - $147/$80
Fullsize car- $174/$94

Since the $15 coupon is taken off after the base rate quote, I ended up with a midsize reservation of $78 after all those dratted airport taxes. A pretty nifty deal, and I won't even have to keep checking back to improve my rate. laugh

Daisy,
Pardon my stupid question....What is a "Costco"? I'm guessing a drug store of some type or maybe a Home Depot type store?

LOL ..not a stupid question at all, Lee, altho it might have been rather dumb of me to assume everyone would know what a Costco was<g>. Your guess is pretty good!

Costco/Price Club is a membership warehouse retail store, with goods ranging from groceries to furniture, and lots of stuff in between, such as clothing, sporting goods, housewares, electronics, auto supplies and lots of seasonal stuff like garden supplies, holiday decorations, etc. I've never been in a Sam's Club, but my guess would be they are very similiar. Looking around my den, about half of my oak furniture came from them, as well as my original Packard Bell computer.

Thanks Daisy,
It sounds like our local Sams Club or a BJ's warehouse.
Sams has fliers to on travel, however I don't even check them anymore. The offers where never any good.

Sam's and Costco may use the same travel agent since those coupons were the only interesting thing I saw in the magazine.
