Las Vegas Hilton used to have wheelchairs that if you gave them your credit card number, you could use for no charge while you were a guest in the hotel. We used to take it with us to other hotels in the trunk of the rental car. The credit card was to ensure the return of it.
Before my Dad bought his own wheelchairs, we also rented one at a local place and took it with us on the plane. We would use it in the airports. Take him down to the plane door, then they would take it and put it in the luggage compartment. Then the next airport would bring it up to the door of the plane for us, and we would have it to use in that airport also. After he bought his own, we continued to do the same thing for years.
