Another airline bites the dust ... Independence Air will cease operations on Thursday, putting another 2700 airline employees out of work but not necessarily stranding passengers. They are contacting passengers with round-trip tickets to see if they can return before Thursday and will ask a bankruptcy court to give refunds to those who cannot and to those who booked flights for Friday and beyond.

According to a message on their website, other US carriers operating the same routes are required to offer standby seats for $50 each way to passengers holding unrefunded tickets. Passengers must request those standby tickets within 60 days.
