When I was in LV last week, I stopped by the Venetian and saw they have some decent video poker pay schedules in all denominations.

Wonder how long this will last?

V,
I also saw some decent pay schedules, and once again this was the only place where I couldn't win this trip. Guess I shouldn't play full pay machines.

V and LeeAnn: Did you sign up for the slot club at the Venetian? One LV newsletter quoted the Venetian as saying they couldn't afford to have full-pay VP since they were so generous with their slot club cash back. I did see some 9/6 JOB machines over by LaScena last week.

Daisy,
I signed up for the slot club and also signed up for info about the Venetian on the internet several months ago. Before we left I got a postcard with a room offer and 50 Denaro points for a new card or added to an existing card. I gave the coupon in for the extra points last week. According to the brochure I picked up when I signed up for the slot club you get $1 cash back for each 10 Denaro points you earn. When you earn 200 or more Denaro points in a gaming day you automatically receive an additional 50 Denaro points. If I remember correctly I think it was $25 for 1 Denaro point on a 25 cent poker machine.

LeeAnn: Are the Denaro points only good for cash back...or can they be used for meals or merchandise too?

Daisy:
Denaro Points are strictly cash back.
They also offer Bravo Rewards, which is described as special bonuses and privileges offered throughout the year..You never know when a Bravo Reward will appear!
There also is Passport Extras--depending on your level of play you may receive comps, hotel rates and invitations to exclusive players club give-aways. No mention as to what play level gets what comp though.

When I signed up they told me 50 points on my card would get me casino rate. I passed at trying to accummulate 50 points since I don't need casino rate there as of yet. I saw some people drop some money just to get the 50 points.

Michael, thanks for the extra info. I signed the guest book when I visited the Venetian's preview center, and I got an offer from them for either Memorial Day or July 4th weekend for $140/night, with 25 Denaro points included.

John, I think you made a good decision ...I wish I had made the same decision regarding the GN's slot card, but at least I bailed out quickly.

Daisy: John is right about seeing people playing just to accumulate 50 points--I was one of them!

V,and all,I think at some point were all guilty of that not quite too bright move of playing for the casino rate! I do it too much? Think about it.Look at all the money spent at Rio etc.For what? So some new owners can come in and ruin the place? These days it's not worth the cost and effort to do this. They don't know where they will be next year or next month. The corporate thinker's are running things now.Which translates to the "Bottom line" period!!

That means the hell with the customer and service and loyalty etc.It just simply means that they care about one thing $$$$$ and that is it!! So go to Vegas enjoy yourself have fun and don't play for something that may mean nothing next trip?? If your hotel treats you nice good.Enjoy it while you can it may not last too long? Bob NY

Bob, boy did you hit the nail on the head. With some many changes in ownership and management philosophy anything you build up with a casino can be taken away. You give some great advice in your post.

John,
That's why Michael says he is trying to get off from work so he can go to AC with me next month. Guess he thinks V, Teri and I need a chaperon. <vbg>

I just read an article in Casino Player magazine about the Venetian and it said that top executives there are originally from the Sands in Atlantic City. I played a lot at the Sands in AC, and their pay schedules for video poker there is 6/5. This was of course before I knew what a 6/5 machine was. I do understand that the pay schedules at the Sands have improved recently. (Maybe since the departure of these executives?) I wonder if they will do the same thing at the Venetian, espeically since they have said that their target market is convention people, who I would think probably have no idea what a full pay machine is.

Bob: This past trip I played much more quarter and 50 cent VP instead of dollar, although I did my share of dollar play <g>.

I mainly did this to see if the offers from Caesars get lower or stay the same. Also, I didn't cash in my points for cash back but left them in my account. I don't know if that makes any difference, but last trip, in April, I cashed in everything and then got what I consider a lousy offer from Caesars, considering the amount of dollar machine play and points I accumulated in April. At one time a Caesars Emperor's Club agent suggested that you should leave 100 points in your account to get better offers, although I don't know if that still is true.

I suspect though that the next offer from Caesars will be another average offer.
