Our news last night told about a ring which has been manipulating slot machines to rig
frequent payoffs. Their take is in the millions. Has occurred in Las Vegas and in
other places around the country as well.

Anyone have any further info on this?

Dick, I can't remember the exact details but there was a group of about 3 or four that were caught and sentenced to jail here in Las Vegas. They won a lot of BIG jackpots. Husband & wife, and a couple of others.

If I had the knowledge and was inclined to do something like that, I would think it would be better to just make a few good hits and not go for the jackpots where you have to give all your personal information.

Just remembered something else about this particular case. The main guy *was* going to cooperate and tell the authorities how he did it. But then changed his mind.

Gail, I think this is a new case ....I caught one mention of it today. The indictment just filed within the last week; 8 people have been arrested so far. The group was working out of a home in Las Vegas but had been cheating casinos across the country, including some Indian reservations.

Dick or Daisy, was there any mention of how they were doing it?

They didn't give that kind of detail, but it was mentioned that the authorities found some sort of cheating devices when they raided a home in Las Vegas and that a couple more arrests were expected. I would imagine more details will be released when they have all suspects in custody, but one interesting comment was that most of the casinos didn't even know they had been taken. I think the group had been operating for 3 or 4 years.

The article I saw, from the Las Vegas Sun, via VLV billhere e-mail mentioned that the people were arrested in LV, their homes were in LV, their technology and equipment was found in LV, but the alleged cheating happened in places like Atlantic City and New Orleans. It also mentioned some of the tactics used remote control devices. The persons arrested were repeat offenders.

Well, all I can say is if they go to court here in Las Vegas, they will get a lot of years in jail.

You get more for this type of thing than rape and murder.
