   Slot Clubs
   Slot Clubs
I've learned how to join a slot club. Can someone explain to me what a slot hostess is?

Also, can someone explain when you're supposed to tip someone in a casino? I realize that when a hostess brings you something to drink, a tip is given. But when else do you tip?

Thanks.

HSMOM42,

A Slot Hostess is a person who works in the
Slot Club booth and who has the responsibility of increasing membership in the slot club by lending a personal touch to
individual members. They sort of act as a
personal contact for hotel reservations at
casino rates (if warranted), and otherwise
show customers hospitality while at the
casino.

As for tipping, that's a personal preference
thing. You're correct in tipping the cocktail waitress for a "free" drink. Or,
if you're sitting at the bar playing VP
the drinks are again "free" but the bartender
should be tipped.(You may be asked to sign a
cash register receipt at the bar) In other
areas, some people like to leave a tip for
the housekeeper for keeping the room neat.
Valets should be tipped, waiters in sit-down
restaurants, taxi drivers, and pool attendants.

HSMOM,

Another way to look at a slot host or table host is that they're employeed by the casino to make you feel good about losing money to them. They will pamper you and give you free meals, rooms, show tickets, etc. as long as you keep gambling. They will make you feel like the most important person in the world as long as you keep gambling. They'll do anything they can reasonably do for you as long as you keep gambling. Your average bet and number of hours played will determine the level of 'comps' they will offer you.
Being a member of the slot club will get you the cash back or comps available for whatever points you earn while playing. A host has the authority to comps beyond this. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. If you play nickels or quarters for no more than a couple hours a day, a host probably won't help you much. If you play quarters or above and play at least 4 hours a day, preferrably more, you need get established with a host.
