Slot Machine "tricks"
  Slot Machine "tricks"
Do you use any "tricks" when playing slots?
Do you carry a good luck charm?
How do you pick your machine?

I like machine in high traffic areas, especially on the ends of rows. I'll put in enough money for 7 pulls at max coins and turn off the credits. One time thru with no substantial hits and I'm gone.

Jeff,
I'm not a big slot player, but you and I would get along great at the slots. I always like, one machine in from the corner, in a high traffic area.
But my reasoning isn't that I think the 1 in from the corner is the lucky one. I do this to keep people from bumping me and spilling my drink! <VBG>

Jeff, I don't play slots. But I do play vp. I look for full pay machines and then play the end one and the third one from the end. If there 6 machines in the bank, I will play both end machines and the one in the middle of the bank. I'll try $10 in each machine in quarters, and if I get something going I will continue playing the machine. If after running through the $10 I haven't hit anything of note, I cash out and move on.

One thing that seems to work sometimes is choosing to play the "house brand" of slot machine. These are things like "Roman Rewards" at Caesars, "Monte Carlo Riches" at the Monte Carlo, "Big Apple" at NYNY, etc. I get the impression that these have a relatively low house percentage. Avoid the really big progressive jackpot slots (>$10,000).

Eric,
Amazing! I've always felt the exact oppisite of those house machines. My theory is, they had to pay extra for those specailty machines, there for, the hold would be greater to off set the cost per machine.
I have no basis for my theory, mind you. It's just been the way I felt. I know when I buy a product with a custom lable (my name) it costs me more. But then the advantage is, my name will be in there living room everyday.

Seem's like Everyone I've ever talked to thinks end machines in the high traffic areas are the best, and thats why they don't pay often. I've found that I get more play and wins away from those areas.
How do I pick my machine, well I find out which ones Loretta lost her butt on and go back the next day and hit a jackpot, and boy she gets P!$$ed off. Other than that I just find one thats calling me.

A few AC trips ago, some guy sat down next to me at a VP machine and before every hand was dealt to him, he would whack the machine on the left side twice. Talk about a ritual!
And I'm not talking about a small tap either--a real pounding on the side of the machine, not once but twice. Not only was it extremely annoying to everyone, but it couldn't be too good for the machine either.

The first time Tim & I went to vegas, we got a charm of some kind from Tropicana. I carried it on my chain with all the slot cards. One night we got ... well, suffice to say we drank a lot... anyway, here we are with this charm thing (we were taking turns on the same machine) rubbing it all over the machine yelling Booga Wooga! Booga Wooga! Talk about looks!

Another time at Treasure Island, playing Lucky Duck machine by crap table. Well... we were drinking that night again... yelling Lucky Duck! Come on Luck Duck! and Duck, Duck Duck Duck...Lucky Duck!!!!....we did a nice job of entertaining the crap tables.

Sober, Tim likes to dance to the Wheel of Fortune machines.

And on the last trip, started playing Monopoly. We start singing to this one, too...and we were'nt drinking either!

I've talked to machines, sang to them, and have even cleaned them at times trying to get them to cooperate with me.<g>

I've even thrown kisses to the "eye in the sky".

Ok,
I guess it's time to tell the secrets of my success. <vbg> Rule number 1 is to not leave the house without all lucky charms in tow. This includes lucky bow, lucky jewelry, lucky clothing and lucky coins. Be sure to hold lucky bow as well as lucky four aces charm in the left hand while pressing the machine buttons with the right hand. Michael never believed about the lucky charms until several times I forgot them and did very poorly. Now he asks me as we are leaving if I have everything I need. <vbg> Rule two is to try to play end machines. However, if you play $10 to $20 through end machine and it doesn't pay off, move to another machine, preferably the other end. Rule 3 is do not order anything to drink while you are playing. I know this sounds like a stupid one, but everytime I order a drink, I start to lose. However, spouse may order a drink and bring it to you. He must not be sitting next to you when he orders it, because if he is sitting next to you, you will lose. This involves having a wonderful husband, which I do. <vbg> Rule 4 is to stop playing if anyone starts watching you play. This rule does not apply to friends and family, who may watch you play. Rule 5 is if someone is watching a friend play, but not playing the machine they are sitting at, do not ask them if you can play that machine. Even if they say sure no problem and move, you will lose, so just wait until they leave or try another machine.
Well I guess that just about covers my video poker lucky rituals. I know they sound stupid, but they seem to work for me. <vbg>

Carol & Lee Ann,

Sounds like you two should get together to sing and share charms some time .

John,

My royal in Biloxi was on an end machine. My one at the MGM was number 3 from the end.

Jeff, See what I mean? The end machines and the 3rd one in are the ones to play. If that's true, how come I haven't hit a royal yet?<G>

LeeAnn, sounds good to me too! Just don't let any dogs around while I sing. They have a tendency to drown me out with their howling! Better pick a casino that doesn't have any animal acts! And I tend to sing, er...belt it out more after drinking so I would probably just drown you out.

I'll bring Booga-Wooga with me!

slot rules, all machines are female so you can call them all those cute names.babie cutie, honey.always call for the wild ones, come on cherries,or double d's etc.if a little ole lady with a black glove on ,asks if you are playing a machine, imedeatly knock her to the floor and play that machine cause you know it's going to jackpot.
Works for me
