Redeem Your Slot Club Points!
Last week I tried to hit the casinos where I have redeemable slot club points and cleaned them out just in case they either: A) use Y2K as an excuse that your slot club points got zapped; and/or B) change their slot club on short notice, like the Hard Rock has done.

Even at Caesars I didn't leave any points in the system and just took all the cash back. My slot host says there is no point at all in leaving any points in your account, at least at Caesars.

Unless you are positive your favorite casinos send better offers if you have some slot points built up, I'd wipe 'em out.

Veronia, I was told by slot hosts at the Rio and at Caesars that I should redeem my points at the end of each trip. They said there was no benefit in leaving them.

We have always redeemed our points at Mirage on each trip. Our slot host told us it doesn't make any difference on future offers whether you have points remaining in your account or not.

Two years ago the Caesars slot club told me to leave 100 points in my account all year so that my name remained on their offer list, but as you know that is not Caesars' system any more.

The way a casino's computer system tracks a player these days, and offers are generated based on amount of play, I don't see any value to leaving points in an account if you can get the cash back.

Veronica,
I agree it is a good idea to cash out your slot points at the end of each trip. I always cash all my points out at the hotel I stay at and it has had no negative effect on offers. I receive offers monthly. I have left points in some other slot clubs at hotels I do not stay at. However, I intend to cash them all out before the end of this year. On my last trip, a friend of mine joined a few slot clubs and some of them gave him brochures explaining their points, etc. A couple of the brochures stated that although you could let your points accumulate, usually up to one year or 18 months without any activity (or they expire), you could only use points for comps on the current trip. So if you leave a lot of points in your account, you may get the cash for them later but you could be missing out on some other comps such as food and shows, etc. It pays to check out the details of slot clubs you are a member of, especially the ones you give the most play.

Gregg: I'm going to try to look into the various slot club policies and under another subject post them as I come across them.

One exception to cashing out all your cash back at the end of a trip could be the Golden Nugget. You get a comp when you take your cash back that you have to use within a couple of days. An example is if you want $50 cash back you get 2 meals to their gourmet rooms. That's quite a comp to pass up just to get your cash. So you say, Get your cash back the last night? But what if you've accumulated $200 cash back. Now you have to take 8 gourmet meals at that time or lose them!

That would be (Buuuurrrrp) a lot of eating. I'm not sure the plane would get off the ground.
