A new gaming device called Pegasus will soon be tested in selected Nevada casinos at slot machines and video poker machines. This device, about the size of a laptop computer, can be connected to the slot machine by plugging into a port, and the slot player can then "play" the machine through the Pegasus device. The player would first have to purchase slot machine credits from an attendant who would electronically place the credits on the slot machine.
Theoretically the player then can be out at the pool, in your hotel room, at the bar, the sports book, or at bingo, and keep on gambling. However, the manufacturer, Anchor, notes that it does not intend to market the product for those uses because of the difficulties in preventing underage players from using the devices. (Yeah, right!)
Since Pegasus isn't actually a gaming device in itself, no regulatory approval from the state of Nevada is needed. Plans to begin testing the product in casinos will begin within 90 days. Look for further testing down the road on keno machines and in the sports book.
