I know every book and "expert" say not to place this bet in craps, however I have had great fun doing in on my computer at home. On my computer the payout is 2x for a 2 and 3x for a 12. This past weekend I went to a local Riverboat for a "tune up" befor the big Vegas trip (T-96 hours and counting) and was shocked to see it was 2x for both the 2 and 12. I am new to the game of craps so I don't know... Is this the pay out in Vegas?

The payouts are the same as on your computer. BTW, I will place a field bet on the come out roll equal to my pass line bet. This is a "hedge" bet. If the shooter throws a 2,3, or 12 the pass line loses but you cover the loss with your field bet. You get paid on both bets on an 11 and you break even on a 7. I know it isn't a great bet to make but I have weathered a lot of long streaks of shooters craping out on the come out roll.

It all depends on where you play. I have seen it both ways in Vegas. Of course if you are going to make the bet, you would be better off to play at a table that pays the 3X for the 12. As far as the bet itself, most say it is not a good bet, but that is for every individual. I sometimes make to bet. In Detroit I saw a guy roll 7 field numbers in a row. Just remember there are more dice combinations that are not in the field on any one roll. I can't wait to see a craps talble again......
