In case you haven't already read about it, a 37 year old U.S. Airways flight attendant from Canada hit the Megabucks last night at Harrah's for $9.3 million. She had been playing for about an hour on $15.00. At first she thought she won $10,000, but later discovered she hit the BIG ONE!

Funny, I've never been able to play $15.00 on anything for an hour.

Drat! I was planning on hitting the Megabucks over Superbowl weekend.
And Jan, you aren't the only one who can't make $15 last over an hour<G>

Jan, I stuck $20 in Megabucks on my last trip; I think I played about 20 seconds<g>.

I usually stick in $20 in a Megabucks machine on each of my trips "just in case" I'm destined to be a millionaire. I don't think I've played longer than 5 minutes at any one time!

I always put at least 21 in on each trip (7 pulls) - managed to hit $180.00 during one trip but that is it. I understand that it starts over at 5 mil and that dear friends is nothing to sneeze at. Wendell

Ach-Choo! I'll will definitely be donating $21 to the cause, but I think they start the jackpot at 7 million now ...nice walking-around money if I can last more than my record 1 minute 40 seconds on that amount<g>.

I found this on a 'slots' site and will send it to Senatorjm to be put on the links if it's not already. Anyway, it says the progressives have 2 levels of jackpots, a primary-the big money that's displayed w/ the biggest sign and #'s on top the bank or carousel of slots, and there's a secondary which is a smaller amount and hits more often and is displayed on a smaler screen below the primary screen. Once either is hit they will automatically reset to $3million for primary and $2000 for secondary. Check out how high the amounts are and if they're way above that, chances are greater they will hit sooner. Megabucks #'s can be checked at 1-888-448-2win, I don't know if they have a website.
Gayle Mitchell writes articles on slots and that's where I got this info.

Okay, I have a correction...I just came from the Megabucks site and it does say it resets at $7,000,000 after a hit. The info I gave from another didn't have a date on it. Sorry, Guys.

The Canadian Megabucks winner was just interviewed by the Today show-from Harrahs. Evidently these large jackpots are paid out over a period of 25 years. She had received her first check and said that it was the dream of every Canadian to own a home in Florida and that was on her agenda. She gave one demonstration pull on a Megabucks machine (financed by the Today show) and hit it for $15.00. Matt (Today show host) promptly dunned her for his half - $7.50. Wendell

The Canadian jackpot winner was also interviewed by Regis from the RIO yesterday - seems to be a popular winner - but who wouldn't be with that much loot. Wendell (Isn't the rate of exchange $1.50 Canadian to $1.00 American????)

Y'all will be glad to know that tonight I added to the Megabucks jackpot. Tonight had to be the worse session I have ever had on MB. $120 only lasted 10 minutes, 40 pulls on the machine only got me 3 hits at $3 each. Oh Well, it got me another 129 points on my Station Casinos card.

Actually, in the USA it'll maybe buy a pkg. of cigarettes (if I smoked). But in Canada it buys plenty. There was a little thing on the radio about someone from the USA coming up here and stopping to buy a newspaper, he gave the newstand person $20.00 American. the newstand guy converted the currency, charged him for the paper and gave the guy $30.26 back. Of course the American was delighted. You guys could come up here and do very well for yourself. It's when we go to the USA, that for e.g. every $1.00 I drop in a slot machine is actually costing me $1.53.

I know all about the exchange rate from playing in your casino's! That is one heck of a bit when you convery back to US currency. (I almost said real money)
I can still remember our first forray into your wonderful country. My wife making the comment out loud that the money remined her of Monopoly Money. The clerk at the Sheraton stated a correction, that when we go back home, you'll know how close you are.
But on the bright side, you have 3 gallon flush toilets and we are stuck with the 1.6 gallon type that you must flush twice.....how does that save water again...remind me! LOL

Once upon a time all toilets in north america where 3 gallon types. Then our goverment in it's infinite wisdom said 'NO MORE" at some date in time all new toilets will have the 1.6 gallon capasity only! So hence we now flush 2 times so everything goes down, using 3.2 gallons. However, your country, being backwards <VBG>, kept the 3 gallon type and is still just flushing one time and using just 3 gallons of water with each flush.
It is against the law for 3 gallon toilets to be sold in USA, however, it is 100% legal, for us to drive across the border and purchase the toilets in Canada and bring them across the border for our own use. LOL
