We were at a Riverboat yesterday, and it seemed that every other slot I played wouldn'take coins. They either wouldn't fit, or they would fall through and not register as a credit. Let's say you're playing a 3 coin slot, and you're getting ready to leave, and you only have 2 credits left. Why can't you just take a coin and put it in? No, that's not what they want. They want you to take out paper money and insert it in the slot, and they figure as long as you've now got 20 credits, you'll end up playing
all of them which does happen. This gets to me.

What really annoys me are the people who stand in the middle of an aisle looking around like they are in a daze. Also when a group of people walk like the living dead spread all across the aisle. Grrrrrrrr

People in front of me in any line that don't have a clue. Like the person that waits at McDonalds till he's at the cash register and the person is waiting to take the order. They now just look at the menu and go ahhhhh!

I think my list would be shoter if it was a list of things that don't annoy me! LOL

Just had to get in on this one. I was sitting at a video poker machine in Harrahs and finally had found one that was really winning. Had about 200 credits and all of a sudden two employees walk up and tell me to get up for a minute they needed to work on this machine. So I got up and they opened a box close to the floor and worked on it and when I sat back down, couldn't get it to hit again. Don't know if it left its cycle or what happened but it made me really mad. Next time I will tell them no! Hope slot tech reads this and lets me know what they were doing. Also while I have been typing this note, a micro-soft screen has come on 5 times and I have had to close it. It was advertising different things. Anyone else having that problem? Sorry, my notes are usually funnier.

Two things:

1. Slow Hopper fills
2. Smokers who don't give a care that their smoke is going in my face.

I hate people who will stand in line to buy tickets, then argue for an hour over some insignigicant detail or get to the front of the line, didn't know the tickets for "O" were $100/each, and debate the merits of going or not.

I also hate people who will try to occupy every slot machine on a row by playing a few coins in each of them, but not at a pace any faster than if they sat at one machine.

People who try to keep you from sitting at a slot machine by placing their drink in front of it or some personal belonging over the back of the chair.

People who try to tell me how to play a hand of BJ that don't know me. I especially hate the people who blame their bad luck on me because I took a card. They didn't thank me when the same play caused the to win?

Blossom, You hit on my other ones. Especially the people who spread themselves across the casio isles and then stand there.

Doug, I have gone to McDonalds in Vegas. I'm not proud of that fact, but I was hungary and in a hurry.....had to beat the sunrise to bed. When in Vegas, I take on a vampires life, I'll be able to sleep, only if I get to sleep before the sun comes up. If not, I'll end up just laying there, looking at the ceiling thinking everyone elses day has already started and feel like I'm missing something....and not be able to sleep!

I can't believe it - I agree with EVERYTHING that's been said except for the cigarete smoke - if I did that I'm sorry and I'm in the midst of quitting. I didn't know just how many other things annoyed me that I never thought about - overpowering!

I'd like to hear from JMT on this one.

Agree with everything said, plus, I hate when I've dumped a bunch of money into a machine and its not doing anything, but someone stands close by hoping l'll leave it so they can dive in and maybe win. thinking it's overdue, I guess, cause i've not won. you know the type we call them vultures. Overall, I like more than I dislike about casinos and gambling.(unfortunatly)

I agree with just about everything. The smoking issue's interesting. I've had people sit down next to me while I'm already smoking my cigar then give me dirty looks when a little smoke drifts their way. I won't sit next to a non-smoker and light up.

This also upsets me, when the non-smokers have their own tables in almost all casino's now, let them go play there, is my attitude, if the smoke bothers them. On the other hand, I'm a non-smoker, so I can sit anywhere either type table as the smoke doesn't bother me either. I'm asked many times if I mind if others light up. After a while they notice I'm not smoking. If I'm at a table that allows smoking, then go for it.
However...that brings up 2 more things that annoy me!
1.Players that purpously blow smoke in the dealers face...all that does is make the dealer mad.
2.Dealers that complain to me about the smoke at a smoking table, like I'm on thier side because I'm not smoking. Don't get me involved! Your at a smoking table...now just deal the cards!

On the smoking issue,I try to find machines with other smokers or nobody around,if not I wouldn't smoke unless theres 2 empty seats inbetween.At the tables I'll sit at the end and during reshuffles I'll step back and smoke.Probally 70% of the time the person next to me says it don't bother them.Even if the person next to me smokes I don't because its to close together plus it seems the smoke always goes in the dealers face.At the machines if I'm there first I'll still smoke but not as much and try to be considerate for the nonsmoker.

I'm not a smoker and smoke tends to create health problems for me which I cannot control. I often play in non-smoking areas, but do not avoid smoking areas. I do avoid sitting down next to smokers and will leave when someone decides to smoke next to me if it is blowing my way. However, there have been many times that I've not wanted to give up a machine I had been playing and my husband agrees to continue playing the machine for me so I can go elsewhere. Now if he would win big, you know who's money it would be.<LOL>

Many problems could be handled much better with most smokers and non-smokers if people would just be CONSIDERATE and not think only of themselves. Unfortunately we have too many today with an "I am the only important one" attitude. My husband smokes, as do many of my friends, but they do show consideration for others.

There are many annoying things in life whether it be in a casino or anywhere. However, with all the money we lose in casinos, you would think they could keep the money acceptors working, keys operating properly(without sticking), have comfortable chairs around(many are even broken, and the area around machines kept clear of messes....especially the ashes in the money trays. All casinos should have suggestion boxes readily available for their customers. I'll bet they would be put to good use.

I have one on mine that states OSHA has rated my back side to carry a maximum of one person unless I install hand rails and a safety strap. If there's more than one person who wants to ride my back side, they just have to wait.

The ladies room in casinos. Many prefer not to use toilet seat covers and instead prefer to pee all over the place. Or, they must use an outhouse at home because they don't know the button or silver handle means FLUSH!

TALKING SLOTS!!!! It's bad enough when they are sqwawking when people play them, but now it seems that they are activated every time anybody walks past, like auto alarms. 'Let's make a deal!!'' trash them,ok?

Also, poorly designed lighting at machines. I have in mind a particular bank at the Imperial Palace which are impossible to play for more than five minutes because of the headache inducing flashing lights around it.

As a smoker, it annoys me when I sit at the end machine, and the smoke invariably seems to drift toward other players rather than the aisle. [img]http://www.talkvegas.com/ubb/frown.gif[/img] I agree that ashes are a pain in coin trays, but it would be nice to see ashtrays that haven't been used for garbage cans too<g>. Courtesy does work both ways here; I've put out cigarettes when politely asked, and I've chain-smoked when someone sits down next to me and starts using their hand like a fan.

Other gripes: loud PEOPLE (as well as machines), especially players that pound the buttons on a machine, saying something like "big money" with every attack on the buttons. Also, downright obnoxious people that vent their losing frustration on the service people ....one elderly gent with a cane berated the cashier at Sam's buffet while I was there, said it was terrible for a handicapped person to have to wait 20 minutes in line (he walked up behind me, and his wait was less than 2 minutes).

If I hold the door open, I've been acousted with "I can do it myself". I've gotten dirty looks for not holding the door, like it was expected.
Hey, I'm 100% in favor of make access equal for all public places, the close parking spots, the special ramps, the special facilities. But why shouldn't they wait like I have too in line? I guess I might be missing something, but I thought it was equal we where shooting for...not prefured?

This happened on my last visit to Las Vegas, I had to use the restroom, it was a small restroom, and the toilets where all taken except for the Handicaped one, I used it, when I emerge, I'm berated by a person in a wheel chair yelling at me for using his designated toilet! What am I gonna do? Stand in the mens room and have a shouting match with some guy in a wheel chair? I mean it didn't seem like a very fair fight either, after all he had a cane, and me without a weapon! <VBG>
I walked away shaking my head.

About the restrooms in general, I think some guys stand in the center of the room and spin! There are times it apears they made no attempt to hit the target at all. And some of the problem falls on the maintainace depratment of the casino's. At busy times, there should be more frequent checks on the restrooms.

Yes I also hate that! It seems as if they can't wait for you to lose so they can move in and win millions!!! I feel they are putting a hex on me.With all the thousands of machines in town they have to lurk by me??Do you notice they all look like sneaks anyway.With RNG etc. you would think people would get over the old wives tales thinking? But I guess not.How many times have you heard "This machine is hot" I played it last night.Yeah right.

LOL, yes wouldn't that be sweet revenge, if you said that then waited to watch them go into the ditch. But wait, I could never stay and watch, what if they won a big one, how horrible. I usually say nothing but move away really quickly, when I've lost a lot in a machine, and decided to leave it, if the lurker wins, I don't want to see it.

I'm with you, Kui ....if I leave a machine, I head for another part of the casino.

I used to avoid handicappped designated stalls but then I realized that what it means is that they are accessible for handicapped people, not just to be used by them! That's my spin on it anyway. I smoke and it seems no matter how careful I try to be at the slots, the air conditioning blows it right in the faces of others. I don't like ashes in the coin trays either and I'm not sure if people do it on purpose or not - I wouldn't but it would be easy to miss the ashtray, I guess.
My pet peeve is people that block the way across aisles and sidewalks so that I can't get around them.

One of my pet peeves is people who put money into a machine, dont know what is happening and then demand that you do something about it. I watched three people play 3 different machines, one a double diamond, one a wild cherry, and the last a red white and blue. they could understand why one of them was getting paid without 3 symbols on the line(wild cherry) where the white and blue sevens were (double diamond) and if the machine paid for "any red, any white and any blue" why didnt it pay for any 3 colors. I got out of there in a hurry while they kept badgering the change lady to call the boss.
Last trip I was siting playing a 9 line nickle machine and a lady puts a $10 in and taps me and asks how to play. I try and be nice and explain about the number of lines and then the number of coins per line. She points to the MAX play button and asked what is it? I tell her that it means 9 lines at 5 nickles a line or $2.25 a play. She gets angry at me, saying that I am just a pimp for the casino and she is way toooooooo smart to play that much money. I then took another chance and lit a cigarette--seeing her frown I made as sure as I could the smoke drifted her way. she finally cashed out and moved on. Oh well.

Stef, I think I would have been chain-smoking if that "lady" called me a casino pimp....probably woulda spilled my drink too<g>.

How about those idiots who sit next to you at a video poker machine, stuff a $20 in, push the "deal" button then sit there staring at the cards, until they finally turn and either watch what you are doing (hey Einstein, I am not even playing the same type machine you are!) or come right out and ask what they should do. Especially once they see me take out my strategy card - what does it say I should do with this hand? (I dunno, pal - I don't play 6/5 Jacks!!) (In fact, instead of playing that machine, why don't you just go to the rest room and flush that $20 down the toilet - it's less painful!!)

Okay....I'll shut up now....

Cathy - at least you "needed" a hopper fill - too many times at the Riverboats I never require any kind of fill. That'll give you an idea how I was doing. So now I have a new annoyance - going to the casino and never needing a hopper fill.
