Wagerworks - tried it yet?
This site is incredible. It is the Mirage Hotel Group. You go there and gamble - no money. You're gambling for points. You can play BJ, slots, and some VP. When you get a certain amount of points you get something from the hotel you choose - Bellagio, Mirage, NYNY etc. For example, you need 1500 pts for a buffet to one of the above places. They are having some problems with the site freezing up, but it's getting better. Try
it - it's fun!

I found something sorta similar called Pogo, you can play slots for tokens, that you cash in for free draws for real cash and as you play the ali baba slot machine for free, if you hit 3 genies you get the jackpot which when I was there this evening was around $500.00!! There was an article in Time magazine about it last issue. So I tried it, and was online when someone actually won just over $2000. Its a little boring, but they have a chat thing as well that you can participate in if you wish as you play your slot machine, I've noticed some folks get pretty nasty with each other on the chat thing so I've not had too much to say there. We're not allowed I understand according to Talk Vegas boards rules to list the url here, perhaps if you are interested a search thing might find it or of course the March 26th Time Magazine Article will provide everything you need to know.

Kui,
Larry (a friend of mine that posts here from tiem to time), his wife is hooked on pogoDOTcom
I've visited the site a couple of times at his wife Loretta's suggestion. I played, but I too found it sort of slow. Warning....if you sign up, they keep sending you e-mail to come back.
I get a kick out of the prize list....when it gets to the bottom, I keep expecting to see "winner of one peice of used chewing gum....Bob Smith" LOL
Your also correct the chat I had visited was real rough and unfriendly, and I'm a long time chatter, and didn't go for that treatment.
Beleive it or not (some might remember) we even tried chat here on TalkVegas in the early days. It wasn't well received because we all seem to be on differnt schedules.

I've been hooked on wagerworks this entire week and so far accumulated enough points for 8 Bellagio buffets and 4 Mirage buffets. We haven't tried to use them yet so I will post our results next week when we try to pick up the buffets. The game is only a beta version with lots of problems and it takes lots of your time, but being retired we have nothing but time. lol

Blossom, Please do keep us updated!
For me a free buffet in exchange for my time doesn't work. You know how I feel about them (buffets) but I know plenty of people here love them! I'd be moreinterested in a $5 off coupon for a coffee shop.

Blos - how do you get to the Bellagio buffet? I'm playing on their site, but everytime I go to "prizes" it brings up the MGM prize screen.

It is boring but we take turns doing it while one of us is doing chores. Hal hooked up a mirror on top of the computer so we can watch tv while on line so we watch tv while we play. Of course we are retired so our time is our own. We are getting out of town house guests next week so we are picking up 4 Mirage buffet comps and 4 Bellagio buffet comps tomorrow. How's that for impressing visitors?
Lee, you said you don't like buffets. Have you ever tried the one at the Bellagio? Dinner is awesome!

Article from today's Sun:
IGT of Reno announced Tuesday it has closed on its buyout of Silicon Gaming Inc., a slot manufacturer with offices in Palo Alto, Calif., and Las Vegas.
Silicon shareholders will receive 11.9 cents per share in csh, up from the 8.25 cents to 9.5 cents per share originally contemplated. The incresed value came from the sale of most of Silicon's holdings in WagerWorks Inc., a not-for-cash gaming entity developed with MGM MIRAGE.
The WagerWorks shares were sold for $6.2 million with proceeds being distributed directly to Silicon shareholders. The company listed the buyers as B III Capital Partners and Carl Berg, an individual investor. Both were creditors and shareholders of Silicon. Silicon retained a 4.9 percent stake in WagerWorks

Picked them up today. We now have 4 comps for the Sunday brunch at the Mirage for April 1st. We also picked up 4 comps for the Bellagio buffet. They have to be used in seven days. They both state that they are line passes. Everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful and it was a very easy process.

From the club booths of Mirage and Bellagio. In Mirage, they had the comp waiting with our names on them. In Bellagio it was printed up while we waited on a computer.

I'll be in LV soon, so I've been trying to earn some of those buffet nights, but, Wagerworks keeps crashing/or the wheels go spinning madly, requiring retries. How were you able to accumulate so many points, I've been playing any chance I get since Joyce 1st mentioned this site and have only accumulated just over 2000 points, 1 buffet I guess. Where have you found the best results.

Just got to say, this is such a nice site, everyone seems so helpful and so well informed thanks again Lee for guiding me here!

Blossom,
I have never tried the Belagio buffet. All buffets suffer from the same problem....everyone touches the big serving spoons! As stated before, 1/2 the guys using the restroom don't wash when finished...then they touch the serving spoon then I have to butter my bread holding it my hand after I touched that same serving spoon! Everytime I eat at a buffet it is s leap of faith! And don't even get me started on sneeze sheilds, or steam table food in general.
I know everyone here seems to love buffets, and if that is what you like, GREAT. I don't judge anyone for it, I just don't like them.

Lee, I know what you mean, if I think about it too much it does become difficult to enjoy a buffet. But.... one thing we always try to do is be first in to be among the first to enjoy it. Before it is picked over so to speak.

kui, it's a really buggy software package. I guess it's hard to complain about a free service that lets you play games and get comps.

It has been my experience that I get a lot of lock-ups when I use the orange circle icon to make a max bet. I get much fewer crashes when using the white square to the left of the orange circle. I'm not sure why, and I'm still taking down notes of the bug I find. And like most everyone else, I'm looking for the fastest way to build points.

Lee, I learned a lot about what goes on in the back room of MOST restaurants because my 4 kids all worked their way through college waiting on tables or working in the kitchens. If you knew how food was handled even in the best restaurant, you would always eat at home. My brother-in-law was a meter reader on LI in New York and since then he will not eat in any ethnic restaurant. The least of your problems is the serving spoon at a buffet. As far as freshness is concerned, we always go out to dinner at about 4:30 before the crowd gets there. If you used to watch Seinfeld, you would know that is what we seniors do. lol

Kats, the points are good for one year. Let's hope the site is there in a year. After you redeem your points on line and you receive your e-mail confirmation, you have 60 days to call the desired casino to reserve your prize.

I'm amazed that you guys have so much time on your hands that you can come here and chat with each other instead of being at the wagerwork site. This is my first time back in over 2 days.
Kui, 2000 is ALOT of points - takes many many hours to get that amount.
Lee, you don't have to go for the buffets- you can get suite upgrades, or even suites for 60,000 at Treasure Island. Now that's alot of points, but it does sound good.
I'm becoming like a robot - play, play, play. Until today I had been at the Bell site and I had about 35,ooo credits (not prize points). It's that little number down at the bottom of the screen that goes up when you win. Today I went to Mirage and saw that I just had 500 credits. You must lose your credits when you go from one hotel site to another. It probably doesn't matter. It's just weird.
Our goal in life has got to be to catch up with Blosom - practically impossible I would say unless sleep is no longer necessary.
Just think maybe we can have a "meet" at one of the buffets, and then go back to Lee's suite to chat. Fun!

Joyce, don't worry about the credits. When you run out, they will give you 1,000 more. Just hit that button and go. We have a terrible problem. We are expecting house guests tomorrow who will be staying with us until Thursday. I guess Hal and I will have to sneak out of bed in the middle of the night in order to accumulate points. The nice part is that we are taking them to the Mirage brunch on Sunday and the Bellagio buffet during the week. What hosts!
BTW, we are more than half way to two nights at the Bellagio.

Blossom, I have an idea. Have each of your house guest play for at least 3 hours a day for staying with you. That way you keep them entertained and you build a lot of points. You can schedule them to play in shifts<G>
I can see it now. Blossom encouraging her guests, "come on guys, start playing faster. I need the points"<G>

Blossom,
I worked in several restaurants in my early years also. Made it all the way to evening cook, then quit to do what I've been doing for the last 24 years.
I know all the horror stories, but I know the way my kitchen was run, and their was nothing going on in the back that would upset anyone.
One of my new watering holes has installed a glass wall for the entire kitchen. You can watch the whole kitchen work to prepare your food.....the place is spotless!

I'm glad your all making points however for the buffets.....Maybe the line will now be shorter at the coffee shops & specialty restaurants, because everyone will be at their free buffet! <VBG>

D.A.G.,
If I see a restaurant employee in the restroom walk past the row of sinks....everyone in the place will know about it!!!
Actully, I'll take a few restaurant employees touching my silverware over hundreds, maybe thousands, of people touching it at the buffet wagon, mostly because I'll bet 50% didn't wash after using the washroom!
Play the odds man.....play the odds! LOL

BobG, So sorry, I really don't want to push my phobia's on to other people. I was just stating my reasoning for my dislike of the buffets.....now don't even get me started on the bathroom phones!

Lee, considering your "phobia" about cleanliness, please do not visit China. Hal and I were there for 3 weeks and the standards are very different from the western countries. I'll bet they think we are nuts. Do you know that it is better not to be bacteria free? You have to let your body build up an immunity. See, we eat at buffets for our health.

JMT, how do you manage to do that? What game do you play? No matter how we try we can't get more than 500. We concentrate on JOB. We have 29,138 toward our two nights at the Bellagio.

I'm trying to make a macro program that will just keep hitting the left mouse button...at the right time. My problem is that Wagerworks is soooooo buggy, my programs aren't working.

Re: 800 points per hour, I'm on the Phantom JOB game. I'm not really playing the game by holding cards. I deal and draw. When my credits (playing points) get under 1000, I go to the Bananarama slot machine and build my points back up over 2000 in about 10 minutes. Then it's back to JOB without ever holding cards....just push the deal/draw button.

Getting max prize points in minimal time might be relative to computer connect speed, antivirus program, and firewall. I have seen my firewall settings affect play, but be very careful. Sometimes when the computer locks up on their server side, you might get the screen name or prize points of another player. I'm not sure why, but I would want to be certain that my firewall is only open to the required ports, and that no infected files come down the pipe.

I also dabbled with the Arabian Riches slots. The fastest way to get through one of those is to hit the max button so that the wheels start spinning, and hit the F5 key, which refreshes the screen. The key to success on this is to watch the bootom of the slot machine where it says sending data or receiving data, and as soon as the data is transmitted, refresh the screen. The biggest problem is the slowdown when it goes into a bonus round. However that is where the points build up and might be less than the time delay switching to the banana game for points.

I found most of the other games too slow or require too much interaction to be time/points efficient.

We play the Phantom JOB the way you do but we get hung up so often and have to punch the F5 key. Hal hooked up earphones that he wears and he can hear when it deals, so he just sits back in his chair and watches tv and click the portable mouse when he hears the deal. Still no more than 500 an hour. The technical stuff you described is beyond my computer know-how. In any case, thanks for your response. BTW, we are using the first 4 Mirage comps tomorrow morning at brunch. Will let you all know what occurs.
Also, if you run out of credits, they give you 1,000 more by just pushing a button.

800 an HOUR?????
500 an HOUR?????

Are you people (Joe and Blos) super human?
If I really move along and try not to even breath I can get about 320 an hour. Now I feel like a misfit. Joe, I'll try your system and see if I can at least double my points.
This afternoon, the Wagerworks site says it is taking a "time out." I thought that's what happens to my grandchildren when their parents don't like their behavior.

Joyce, keep working on your mouse finger and you'll get the hang of it. I don't really have my eyes on any prizes and I don't see any Vegas trips in the near future. I find that when you play the games as games, they are sorta entertaining. My primary goals are to figure out the inner workings to beat the system. Once I hit that objective, I start getting bored. I don't want to take advantage of Wagerworks, I just want to be able to.

Even at a 1000 prize points an hour the prizes are not a bargain to me. My time is more valuable to me than that. I can see where it is a very nice bargain to people like Hal and Blos. And I can see how others could really benefit.

LOL, JMT ...I've thought several times that I'd rather just spend the money for the brunch, but there's a joker in my deck. My mom is old enough to remember the Depression, and she just can't enjoy a meal that costs $25. So, I will keep playing until I get enough points for two buffets, and we'll both enjoy dinner at the Bellagio.

With a 350 Mz computer and a 56 modem, I'm actually able to do just above 500 if I'm concentrating ....but sometimes I just set up the Keno screen, hit the button judging by sound (like Hal) and do other stuff at my desk at the same time. I'm over 1900 points at this time, so only about 4 hours to go.

It might speed up your play if you have a program that turns off banner ads. But when it comes time to get a new 1000 gaming credits, you need the ads turned on.

I was looking at the prizes for the Beau Rivage and noticed that for 20K points you can stay at their resort in Las Vegas.

I'm a little over 5000 for prize credits, and almost bored. I think I can hit 1000 in an hour tomorrow. After that, I might stop trying and go back to taking Napster to the wringer. Maybe if I hit Wagerworks a few hours a week until my next trip, I can host a TalkVegas meet at the Bellagio.

I could not get on the site for several days, but last night they allowed me to break thru. Sure hope I don't become addicted like you guys!<LOL>

JMT,
If you'll be holding a meet at "B", maybe I should play for "B" points.<G> By the way, do we, as Joyce mentioned, lose our prize points by switching from one hotel on the site to another?

Who's addicted? Deal, draw, deal, draw, deal, draw, deal, draw...............<LOL>

It was my understanding that it doesn't matter "where" you accumulate prize points. The points are yours to spend at the properties of your choice.

Last night, I got 506 points in 30 minutes, so that is on par for 1000/hour. I guess I'll play today while I watch NASCAR on TV.

Just some more info. I am using Joe's method and it works fine. But I cannot sit there for more than 10-15 minutes. So I run up 100 points and then take a break. I go get a beer, watch some tv, check out other web pages, etc. Then I come back and rack up another 100 points. So that way I keep my sanity.
It is interesting that I do pretty well retaining my credits while just hitting the Bet Max/Deal button and holding no cards. I may even be doing better than playing perfect strategy. Kinda makes me think about trying this in Las Vegas-----on nickle machines<G>
If I can get 3 free buffets at Bellagio, then that is pretty good. I can take my wife and her cousin in a few weeks and it won't cost me anything.
At buffets I generally stay with the carved meats so I tend to get my monies worth.

ROTL! If I tried to figure out how to turn off the banner ads ....I'd probably crash my computer. My method is kinda like John's ....get a few points, go scream & let it all out ...then return and grab a few more. All I want right now is 4000 points for 2 Bellagio dinners in April, but JMT has a point ...if I play a half hour a day until (my next trip) in July, I just might get the 18,000 points needed for a couple of nights at either NYNY or TI ...a couple of places that I keep meaning to visit. FREE would be nice. P.S. Is there a Beau Rivage in Las Vegas?

We used our 4 comps at the Mirage brunch buffet today and it worked fine. Our guests were laughing because I kept hoping there would be a long line so we could really take advantage of the comp line. We were lucky and there was a line.
John, we took your advice and put our guests to work on WagerWorks and they are enjoying it so much. I jokingly told them they had to work for their dinner and they happily obliged. Now I can't get them away from the computer to go to a casino.
As far as your prize points go, you can play at any of the casinos and your points accumulate and you can use them at any casino. Don't worry about your credits because when you run out they just give you 1,000 more.

Have been following John's and Daisy's way of doing it. Every now and then I will tell Fred he must do his part and obtain a few prize points.

Had to take some time away today to entertain friends. Don't think they planned on gambling while visiting.<g>\

Glad to know that prize points can be used for any of the casinos listed. Can't imagine this program lasting too long as the news gets around. I should be able to accumulate slowly until our next trip.

Come on, Lee, join us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe,
I thought you needed to accumulate points at the particular hotel you wanted the prize for. At the account menu and it tells you how many points you have at that hotel. I don't see how you could switch them around. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what "account menu" suggests.
Beth,
I wasn't talking about losing points when you change hotels, I was talking about losing credits - the things at the bottom of the screen you need in order to play - kinda like money put in the machines in the casino so you can win real money. And who would ever say that you're not completely absorbed by this. I know I'm not. "Deal, draw, deal draw, deal draw, deal draw"...Thanks for the hint JMT.
Blosom,
You say "just hit the button (key)", and they will give you 1000 credits more. Which key (button) do you press? As far as your guests, I would love to have someone take over on the computer for me. Ask them if they've ever been to Chicago and maybe they would like to go. I could use some relief at that site, and the Windy City is a fun place to visit, but they'll have to pay for their own buffets here, but at least I'll give them a place to stay if they agree to visit the computer every now and then. (3 x a day for an hour each time).
Speaking of "that" site - anyone been there today? Are you doing okay? I've been in and out of the house today, but whenever I try to go there, I cannot get to a game. It's always, "retry" or just a white screen. How did you do today? (Sunday)

Joyce, I got on this morning and picked up 400 points, but it wouldn't let me back in after 4 pm PDT. It's probably just as well<g>, since I need to put in some WinPoker time.

Joyce,

A lot of timeouts tonight. Did not try earlier today. Might the internet traffic be more than the site is ready to handle. Just talkvegas alone would keep it busy.<LOL>

Have not been able to access for the past hour. Did get in, but got nowhere from there. Does everyone think this will last very long? I don't!

When those of us visiting LV later this year ask, we'll hear, "Sorry, that offer is no longer available".

Joyce, after your credits reach zero, your screen sort of whites out and they show a "button" that says press for 1,000 credits. You press it and you get 1,000 more credits.

Also, your points accumulate regardless of what casino you play in and you can use them at any one or all of the casinos. We never played in their Mirage location, yet we picked up and used 4 Mirage buffets.
We couldn't get on the site at all tonight. I thought they might be doing some repair work that they warned us about via e-mail.

Thanks for telling me how to get more credits if needed. Also it's interesting that you can use the points anywhere. That's good.
HOWEVER, having said that, I don't think there are many more points in any of our futures. Now that I know you all had problems from 4 on yesterday, I think something is definitely wrong. I went there this morning, Monday, and again I'm getting a white screen or retry. Notlhing happens with retry, refresh or F5. As the song goes, maybe "the party's over"..........

It's working fine for me on Monday morning. I hope that after the initial rush of users racking up points, the real objective will prevail as we discussed earlier. Folks will play a little here and a little there, and their target customer who makes a trip or two per year will want to visit one of their properties to use a comp. I suspect the bean counters don't mind giving away some buffets to get a customer inside the building.

I think people like Blos and Hal will be the exception even though I admire their progress.

I'm a little over 7000 points and I think I have carpal finger syndrome.

Just wanted to post and say.....I'm ROTFLMAO at all this! Exploit the system.....gotta love it!
I'm not a game player and never will be on this darn contraption. heck I even have a hard time sitting down for win poker some times. To each his own though.....so keep up the good work and earn those buffets! I can see me now....just strolling up to the empty cafe!

Tonight they upped the ante for Phantom vp to 10 hands = 1 prize pt.
One could lose interest rather fast that way.

I do hope MGM/Mirage honors the prize points for those of us who worked so darn hard to get them. If they eliminate the program before I arrive in LV late this year, I'll have to start a "bad publicity" campaign on my own.<LOL>

Lee, don't you just love it!!!!!!!!!! There are some of us who have nothing better to do.<LOL> Can I treat you to a Bellagio BUFFET??????????????????

When we cashed in points for 4 Bellagio buffets, we spoke with the slot host supervisor. She said the company was thrilled with the response to the program. She also wanted some hints from us because she is showing her mom how to play WagerWorks. When we told her we were saving for 2 nights at the Bell, she gave us her card and told us to contact her when we earned our room. She couldn't have been nicer.

That's why I'm so tired this morning.<LOL> Was up until 2 a.m. because of the 3's and 4's.
Currently have over 7,000 so it did help tremendously.

Look like either there is a problem with the system or they have upped the points necessary for prizes. I had redeemed 4,000 points for 2 Bellagio buffett (waiting for a confirmation email) yesterday. Then today I tried to claim 1 Mirage buffet for 1,500 and it said I need 4,000 for this buffett. I hope it is a glich.

Gp - that must be a glitch. I went to the prize sites after you scared me with your statement about 4000 pts. for Mirage. It still says 1500 for Mirage.

Beth - you're saying you have to see 10 hands to get one point now in Phantom - as of a few minutes ago it took me 4 MINUTES to get ONE prize point, and there were no hangups of any kind.

I can't believe all of us have nothing better to do with our lives than sit around "wagerworks" trying to rack up enough points for a buffet. Have we all flipped? Although I'm retired I'm now thinking of getting a real job again. I didn't realize how far downhill I had slid.

The folks at the Mirage group have definitely caught up with us. The "party is over." It was fun while it lasted.

JMT - at least we can all admire you. You were not trying to get the buffets like the rest of us. You had a higher purpose. You were trying to beat the system, and I for one, am impressed. <g>

Joyce,

Bad news, It was not a glitch, check the points needed for prizes all increased. Mirage Buffet 4,000 Bellagio 5,000. All that and no notice - not good customer service.

Joyce,

Late last night it was 10 hands to obtain 1 prize point for Phantom vp. Now it's again changed to 2 hands/prize pt.

Other games have changed also. If there's one thing MGM/Mirage should be aware of when dealing with the public, it's the fact that the RULES should NOT be changed after the game has begun. Makes for bad, bad publicity. Once again, it shows they could care less about their customers. Sure doesn't impress me!

I do agree, we've lost our minds.<vbg> But, it was fun while it lasted. Don't know as I will put much more effort into it as they will probably continue to change as they see people taking advantage of the opportunity. We all know they only wanted to "hook" us and really were not interested in "good" public relations.

Do hope someone from MGM/Mirage reads these message boards. I'm thinking of writing to them, anyway.

Beth

Hi gang. I was frosted too. Based on reading the success everyone had had with it, I dedicated myself to earning enough points for the Bellagio buffet for my wife and myself for next week's trip. Had capitalized on the 3 and 4 point/per that had been mentioned here, got almost enough, then the 1 point per every two pulls on Banana kicked in along with the grotesque new levels. ARRRGH. I did email them of my anger, but of course they did not respond. The fine print does say that they can change anything at anytime without telling anyone, which, unfortunately they did. Yet another customer incentive program gone wrong. And what gets me is that it did take time to rack up the points, so it's not like we're just being handed these "prizes". AND, if we're already there eating, wouldn't it be logical to think we would stay to drop a large sum gambling?? Somebody was getting greedy. Oh well. Still looking forward to next week and to NOT leaving cash behind at any of the MGM/Mirage places. See ya.

It's hard to get upset with a freebie, but MGM Mirage really got my dander up last night when I cheerfully clicked on "prizes" .. thinking I had enough points to get 2 free buffets only to find out I didn't qualify for even one under the new rules. It's the principle of the thing! Between raising the price and slowing down the accumulation of points, they've increased things about 500%. I only hope that Hal & Blos had already gotten the points for their free stay. As for me, well, I never go to Las Vegas without a game plan... and several back-up plans.

Plan A (trashed) - go to Bellagio and spend a little time gambling before heading over to the Fontana Lounge to spend a few bucks on drinks and enjoy the water show. Visit the conservatory, gamble a bit more before dinner, have a nice dinner, gamble some more....

Plan B (maybe) - get another 700 points and basically get a twofer for the dinner buffet ...enjoy dinner, visit the conservatory ...leave without spending a dime on the gambling floor.

Plan C - get another 700 points, go into the Bellagio long enough to pick up the free buffet coupon and give it to the first homeless person I see.

No Daisy, we did not get under the wire. Hal got up at 4am yesterday morning to finish up our 40,000 points and surprise me with our two night stay. When he tried to order it, we found out they raised the ante to 60,000. I e-mailed WW and received a form letter right back. I e-mailed again and said I thought I deserved better than a form letter so someone named Emily e-mailed me back with sort of an apology and she told me not to stop playing because they will have some really nice prizes in the future (HA). I sent back a scathing e-mail and I'm sure they were very disturbed by it (HA again). I guess you have all noticed that the point value of playing has gone down drastically. We haven't decided what to do with our 40,000 points yet.

My suggestion is to just quit using the site. When they lose all their participants they might change things. Sounds like something the Rio/Harrahs would do.
