   Joker Wild Kings or Better
   Joker Wild Kings or Better
Has anyone here tried to learn this game? I was messing with it on Bob Dancers computer game and I was doing okay, I guess. It sure doesn't seem like a 100% game while playing it. Then I came across a hand that baffled me. I dug out my cheat cards and read up a little. I kinda think I know what their point is, although it looks like a bad play. The cards dealt to me were...

6 clubs
7 spades
J spades
Joker
Q clubs

Okay, I'll go out on a limb, even though I never play this game - I would probably just hold the Joker.

Me too, but it was wrong. It might take a while before this a 100% game to me. My second choice was Joker & J spades and it was wrong too. So was my third choice, Joker & Q clubs. Ditto for 4th choice, Joker plus J&Q and fifth choice of Joker plus 6&7.

Well now I am guessing too - but is this the only combo you have left? Joker plus the 7 and Jack, for the flush?

Just recently been trying this on my freeslots training games, don't have it even close yet.

Joker Wild 5ofK is probably the most prevalent game in A.C.. In this game you go for 5 of K instead of the RF. However you can find many Joker Wild K or better. I thought most would hold the Joker plus 6 & 7 going for the straight flush. No?????? I have tried to make sense of this game for the past 15 years and haven't gotten too far. Yesterday at a Harrah's casino I sat next to a woman that kept hitting 4ofK and was doing great. She said she has no idea how to play the ones I was playing so she sticks to Joker Wild Kings or better.

I can learn a lot better if I understand the situation, rather than just having a rule. And I don't understand this one too well.

According to my software, Joker plus the 6 clubs is the correct play. It obviously gives you a 2 card flush, but I guess it gives both ends open to run a straight or straight flush.

The second best play is the Joker plus the 7 spades. I'm just guessing here, but it looks like the Q spades might be a penalty card that would affect some of the straight possibilities?

Third best play is the Joker, plus the 7 and Q. Who knows.

And the fourth best play would be the lone Joker.

I feel the best advice you can give someone is to study the paytable. I see nothing terribly bizzare about this paytable, other than the royal flush, which starts at 400. Maybe you can get something out of this...

RF 400
5ok 200
RFw/J 100
SF 50
4ok 20
FH 7
Flsh 5
Str 3
3ok 2
2pr 1
Kob 1

Wow - I don't understand that one at all! Looks like I won't be mastering this game anytime soon!

Oops! Watched players keep the six only with the Joker, but if both were the same suit, the 6 & 7. At Showboat in A.C., people used to always get 5 of K for $1,000, but you don't see much of it anymore. Machines are much tighter these days everywhereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I've thought about learning this game because there seem to be so many machines around, but the strategy seems really different and difficult compared to other games.

I was looking at one Jokers Wild game last night at The Orleans. It took a pair of Aces for a minimum hand.

I think it might take me a while to master if I stick to it. I actually did fairly well on most of my computer simulation. Perhaps it is just the bottom of the hands are the tough ones.

I have been practicing this game here and there and have some thoughts to share.

I tried it at The Orleans, but the paytables were way off, so I didn't really try it there.

I played it at local pub and grubs a couple of times with success. I played it at Arizona Charlie's for about 30 minutes and hit some great hands. The game I was playing was too close to a VERY loud Monopoly game, so I left far ahead. I played it at Hooters a couple of times and did quite well.

I haven't tried to learn a new game in a while, so maybe a lot of the fun to me is the learning process. I do like to keep my brain working and this game certainly does it because it breaks a lot of rules that I am used to. And I am running across new situations all the time that I need to check on the computer. Of course, I forget those situations by the time I get home, but if they pop up enough, I'll remember to check them out.

Sometimes I accidently hold a lone jack or queen. Then I catch myself when I start wondering why I didn't get paid for pairing it up. This is certainly a volatile game. I can usually hold my own with a slight downward trend, then a 4ok puts me right back where I was and I go up and down with a slight downward trend, then another 4ok.

I'm starting to understand Freds comment on going for the 5ok. The excitement build when you get dealt a 3ok, then hope to draw the 4th and joker. There is also excitement when all you hold is a lone joker. There really is no telling what you will get. There are periods when it does seem a little boring, such as when you get a pair of jacks or a pair of queens on the slow delcine cycle and they don't pay at all. But then you get right back in the game and that little joker starts popping up again. That cycle repeats until the big ones get you ahead. By big ones, I mean 5ok, wild royal, and royal. I've only hit the 5ok 3 times, an no royals. The royal paylines are pretty sweet sometimes.

I think I may keep trying this one. A little at home, and a little at the casino, and see if I can at least get basic strategy down. So far, it looks like a game that you hang on and hang on until you hit the big one. And to me that is better than Double Double Bonus where you lose and lose unless you hit the big one. Personally, I don't think the game is as fun as Bonus poker. I do like it as a new game and it "seems" a good way to build up points. I reccomend it as a game to learn and know...just in case.
