With very little fanfare, Nevada regulators in April approved IGT

Sounds like you might as well just stay home and gamble on you computer. Why go the trouble of spending money to go to the casino anymore?

Vegas execs are very good at figuring out how to effeciently remove you money from your wallet. The problem is I prefer the feel of the experience to just gambling.

I can't say they're doing anything wrong. Gambling revenue's seem to keep steadily climbling as more and more sheep come to Vegas to get fleeced. I wonder when/if they'll hit a point of no return when people get tired of having the casino's extricate the money from their wallets faster than ever before. Pretty soon you won't even have to make the trip to Vegas to actually give them your money.

Are you ready for WiFi slots? That's also in the works, and my bet is that the Palm will be the first to set it up so you won't miss any gambling while enjoying the eye candy in the pool area.

The idea is cleaver for them. The server will be able to monitor payouts on all the slots at the same time and track how much is being won and lost each second versus having 100's of different machines going at once.

If say a casino sees that too many people are winning at one time they can change the payout random generator program at will.

Now you have to open the slot and take out the chip that generates the random program and replace it. The server will be able to do it accross all the slots at one time. Ouch.

Even more reasons for NOT gambling anymore. I don't like the changes that are being made.

However, I'm sure I'm in the minority as a majority seem to gamble no matter how bad the odds might be.

If that's the case maybe I'll take some lessons for those guys in the La Cage show at the Riv.

With compters you don't need people. You only need programmers who tell the computers what to do. In a weird way you can think of it like a virus. Everyone who loads the virus on their computer (unexpectedly) has bad things happen.
The server can load a virus into the slot machine and make is pay out less randomly. Everyone playing is involved.
I mean if you don't trust the casinos and basically feel they are out to win at all costs, then all this is very plausable.
If I was a casino owner why wouldn't I want to have this control and move in this direction? The worst that can happen is I make a ton O money.

This seems like both a security problem for the casinos and a trust problem for the customers. The casinos seem to have opened a potential back door into their system and the customers are faced with games that are much harder for regulators to police.
