Casino Promotions for Locals Only ?
Casino Promotions for Locals Only ?
I reside in LV most of the year with occasional and exended business trips to the West Coast. Just about every month I receive (via US mail) a postcard from some of the major, locals' casinos making an offer I can't refuse .......

So far most of these offers have come from the South Point, Silverton, and The Palms and each offer has been good enough to get me into the casino whenever one is received.

Here's what they have offered so far .......

South Point .... Free T-shirts, free beach towels and each week thereafter another "beach accessory" (such as a beach chair) that is needed for a day by the pool, martini glasses (one a week for four weeks), one champagne glass a week for four weeks and on that 4th and final week it comes with a big bottle of champaigne.

Silverton .... A free bucket of six chilled beers and 1/2 price finger food at the bar, half priced Margaritas, and 1/2 priced meals in any casino restaurant, and numerous cash awards ($100 and $1,000 each hour of the day if you are one of they lucky ones playing a slot with your card inserted correctly. And fancy plates and other stuff that locals often stand in a long line for.

The Palms ..... This casino seems to be offering the most and best promotions in town. Yesterday I got a free soda at movie theater and that was just the beginning. Two free pulls on the $11,000,000 slot machine won me $2 one afternoon and $30 the next. Then I received a card to check out how much "free money" I got the next time I sat down to play any slot machine in the house. I had to push those little buttons but it was easy once I followed the on screen directions and got $10 in free play for my efforts. And I've had a good number of 1/2 priced meals in the casino restaurants (not including the places higher upstairs) but I still don't like their buffet at all ... and, BELIEVE ME, I am not a fussy eater, but nothing really tastes good there and the only nice thing I can say about that buffet is that they have a pretty neat coffee machine if you're patient enough to let it work correctly. Yeserday I had an offer to enter a slot machine tournament with a chance to win a lot of money. Needless to say I was the low man on the totum pole and there was no cash award for last place losers. And every week you can stand in line and swipe your card and win some pretty decent things .... such as extra points on your card, free car wash, flashlights, tools, tape measures, gas, etc.

I'm not sure if LV visitors can use these promotions but it's definitely worth a try. Just stand in line and look like a local with your Player's Club card in hand and go for it!

Will, at some point, don't you just get enough stuff? They do this sort of thing on the east coast in Atlantic city, and to be quite honest, most of it, I don't need or even want.

Yes, Lee! I do agree with ya here. For instance, yesterday I went to the Silverton to get a gear pack that fits over the rear seat of my car to put papers in.

And today I will be going to South Point to pick up the first of a total of four Champaigne glasses. With the 4th such glass (3 weeks away) , I get the Champaigne.

I like it best when they give you tons of points on your Player's Card or free money to play on a favorite machine. Or even better - Toofers!

I think it's just the idea of getting something for free that gets us all excited. Last week I went to a lousy movie just to get the free bag of popcorn.

Will sounds like you got the free-Bee's bad! LOL

What gets to me, is that a lot of it is krap, but the item you end up not going to pick up, always turns out to be something nice, and we miss out.
I used to go crazy for casino logo stuff, that has passed! LOL

Those casino logo itens could possibly turn out to be hot Ebay collectors' items if they are no so already!

My latest was the Barbary Coast beer mugs that the put on sale the last week of the casino's existance.

The Palms has been doing a lot of promos through postcards lately.

I give credit to Sahara and Hooters for one of their promos. It was a postcard with two seperate offers on two seperate days. I missed the first offer, but showed up for the second offer and they gave me the items for both days.

The $5 slot play compliments of The Palms is available during the five week days and you get one $5 credit each week.

Really not a bad deal at all.

Last week I had a post card promo at The Sahara where the card was good for binoculars. I picked it up and took it to work where I thought I might utilize it. The binoculars looked pretty nice. They were made by Vivitar, nice smaller size, and had reflective gold color lenses like on the fancy sunglasses. The box said the power level was 4x30. While I know what that means, I never really understood it in practial usage.

I took it to work and they didn't zoom in on anything. It was like tunnel vision, but the image was no larger than with the naked eye. My boss and several work friends got a good laugh out of it.

Now I know why it was free.

JMT, would it be possible that you were all looking through the wrong end?

Yesterday I went down to the Silverton and saw a line, so I stood in it for ten minutes to see where it lead, and at the end of that ten minute line I received a black sachel that is intended to be used as a storage kit for stuff you always throw into your car trunk and can't find when you need it.

I threw it in the trunk and couldn't find it today when I needed it.

Apparently Sandi is useing it as a cosmetic kit, but I bet she'll lose it when she needs it most.

Coming up in the weeks to come ..... Free Champaigne and flute, free cordless iron, free money, and many other valuable stuffs.
