   Roof falls in
   Roof falls in
Anyone have any details on this topic.
While I was in LV, I heard that the roof fell in on a casino that was being built. I think I heard it was the Sun Coast. But it didn't look like they where that far when we drove by.
I'm hoping someone can fill in the balnks here, PLEASE?
I understand there where 7 or 8 workers hurt!

Lee, I think the rules state that if the workers were not making over $100,000 per year, it is not considered newsworthy. The only exception is that if it was caught on video tape. Of course if drugs were involved, and could be used as a major slant, that changes everything. If the company in charge of the products is wealthier than the combined families, it is also not considered newsworthy. However, if one of the victims (preferably a foreman) was a family member of the owner of the company, and the rest of the victims were illegal imigrants, then the story is backpage news on his recovery efforts, rather than news of the accident. Also you need to remember that if the accident happens outside the view of the tourist viewing area, there really was no accident to report. No witnesses, no cameras, no trouble....NO PROBLEM.

JMT,
This would explain why I can't get any information on this topic. It's not a rumor, there where too many casino employee's talking about it. I was hoping someone would know something here on TalkVegas.

Lee, Posted this in the other topic before I saw this topic. So this is a repeat note.

Seven construction workers suffered minor injuries early Thursday when the floor they
were working on collapsed at the Suncoast hotel and casino.
The 4:22 a.m. accident occurred at the construction site at Alta Drive and Rampart
Boulevard, Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said. Workers were
pouring wet concrete into the second floor of a two-story building when the entire
second floor collapsed...
The workers on the second floor fell approximately 25 feet."
No construction workers on the first floor of the building were injured. Seven
workers were treated at Las Vegas Valley hospitals for what Szymanski described as
minor injuries.

Gleaned from the LVRJ, Sept. 10, 1999
