Las Vegas strip & Flamingo Rd.
Las Vegas strip & Flamingo Rd.
Just wanted to post a quick update on the pedestrian bridges (the 2 that where slow to develope). Well all the steel in in place and they just started to fasten the fascade on the one leading between Bally's & the Barbary Coast.
The one between Caesers & Flamingo Hilton/Barbary Coast is S shaped and sort of cool looking.

Personaly, I can't wait for them to be finished. It sure will help traffic on Flamingo Rd get across the strip.

Lee: I noticed last week and this week that more pedestrians seem to be using the finished bridges at the Strip and Flamingo. In fact, I noticed a big improvement compared to July on how traffic seems to be flowing much better at this intersection now. Also I overheard visitors talking about how much nicer it was to use the bridges than to try to cross the streets.

It's really nice to see this all happen and hopefully see this big traffic-flow problem finally improve.

Veronica,
I look forward to the time when no pedestrians will be allowed to cross the streets. If everyone used the bridges instead of crossing at intersections it would help to speed up traffic on the strip. You know that the intersection of Flamingo and the strip is Michael's FAVORITE intersection, so I know he was happy to see the new bridge.

V,
In July they also had a few lanes closed down while the worked on the suports and stairways for the bridges. So that may be why you felt traffic was moving better this trip.
I did however notice on the Oct. trip, a few crazies trying to cross tropicana at the strip by climbing over the barrier walls. That's a great way to weed the stupid ones out of the gene pool!
