Not to discourage anyone from visiting Vegas, but I thought I would share this recent news... Just this week there were two seperate shootings in two consecutive days. The first was a shooting on Monday at Clark H.S. A man shot two students. Police say that it was gang-related. For more information, go to the Las Vegas Review Journal's site.

The second was a shooting at a local fast-food restaurant. Sorry, I don't have any details but you could search at the Las Vegas Review Journal's site.

Well, it has been a wild week here and I think it is time for people to take a stand against violence in Las Vegas.

what do you think?

Joe

Joe, A couple of other things that have happened in the past couple of days. A 16 year old girl was brutally beaten and possibly raped at about 6 am on her way to school. Police are encouraging students to use the Buddy System. Good idea for everyone!!

Also, a couple of nights ago, a man was killed jaywalking with his wife. As he stepped off the medium, a 16 year old hit and killed him. The 16 yr. old driver was devastated.

PLEASE use the crosswalks and don't cross against the light. If you don't obey these laws and you get injured or killed, it will be ruled pedestrian error.

Joe and Gail,

Thanks for the news. We are very careful where ever we travel. Las Vegas is no worse than most large cities except you have more tourists that are interested in the sights and having a good time than their own safety. Getting hit bt a car has been our worst fear in LV as the signal lights change too fast, even for Carl Lewis.

Fred,
You are sure right about those signal lights changing quickly. I almost got run over crossing from the Mirage to the Venetian. (I can't run as fast as I used to. <vbg> ) I can't wait until they put up a bridge there.

Joe and Gail, you guys live in Las Vegas and have a good insight into things that the average visitor doesn't know about. Since Las Vegas is a "fantasy" city most people forget about the dangers that are there. Pedestrians have to be careful and you have to be aware of your surroundings. You can be robbed in lots of ways and druggies will kill you for $10 so they can buy crack.
