Three cocktail goddesses from Caesars Palace, inspired by the Millennium, created a millennium drink that will be served at the famed resort on New Year's Eve, 1999. The millennium drink competition was organized by Caesars Palace Beverage Manager Glynda Jenkins, who challenged her staff to design a drink worthy of the new century. The reward: A day off with pay and a $100 gift certificate for use in Caesars shops. Juanita Newhouse was creating the drink by herself when she asked her fellow goddess, Linda Ervolino and Tamara Hickmann, to taste it. Their reaction: "Not quite ready for prime-time Millennium." The three put their heads together, came up with a new recipe, and submitted it within minutes to spare of the contest deadline and won. The judge choose their drink, named "Y2Kaos," and since the three of them collaborated on it, all three were awarded a paid vacation day and $100 in gift certificates. Caesars Palace is planning to serve the drink in special souvenir vessels, priced at $6.75 and in a millennium cup and $10.75 in a Caesars column.

Here's the recipe for Caesars Palace millennium drink, "Y2Kaos:"

* Pour crushed ice in 12 oz. glass
* Add one Champagne Split (187 ml)
* Add one shot of Chambord (raspberry liquer)
* Add one shot of Peach Schnapps
* Add 2 ounces of fresh pineapple juice
* Add 2 ounces of fresh orange juice
* Garnish with an orange and a cherry

Nothing like drinking a high priced cocktail out of a plastic cup. That Caesars Palace sure has....class?

Lee: Knowing Caesars, there will probably be some Caesar-y inscription on the cup like Millennius Cuppus Souvenirus or Booze-us Maximus.

HMMM,
sounds like a tasty cocktail. Speeking of millenium drinks/drinking...I wonder how they are going to prepare for under-age drinking on New Year's Eve. I know that many 18, 19 and 20 year-olds are going to want to drink, some more than others. I, personally wouldn't mind being able to have a drink or two, when I go to see Bette Midler at Mandalay Bay. What do you think?
