Remember this? At Mandalay in April we checked out the Red Square bar...that's the one where there is an ice bar and a vodka freezer. Well, it seems they are STILL offering membership for access to the vodka freezer...$1,500 for yearly membership and a $5,000 corporate one has been added. I'm not sure if they still give you a fur coat to wear into the freezer, but at those prices, I would hope so.

I wonder how many paid memberships they have!

Veronica --

On a recent trip to Las Vegas with a number of people from my office, one of the things we really were looking forward to was stopping in at the Red Square bar. Having read the reports of the "Ice Bar" and the "Vodka Freezer," we had the impression that the bar was virtually made out of ice and there was open access to what we assumed was a large vodka freezer. Although we enjoyed the bar quite a bit, we were disappointed with the single strip of ice on the bar and the small freezer which we were not permitted to enter.

We had some measure of vengence, however. After more than a few glasses of infused vodka, we slipped into the freezer anyway. A few photographs later we were chased out, but not before it became clear that I wouldn't pay $1,500 for the privilege of going in there again!

V, I can't believe that anyone would pay for a membership. I don't know how they can continue with this. I'm surprised they are still open.

Mark, I was disappointed in the ice bar also. All things considered, I thought MB was overhyped when I was there last April. I know the Senator and some others love the place. Therefore I'm willing to give it a second look. But my overall impression of MB was not favorable. Maybe I've just become numb to new casino openings and take the attitude that after you've seen one, you've seen them all<G>

John, I picked up a new respect for Mandalay Bay on this latest trip. I saw parts of it that I did not see on previous trips. It will be on my trip report, if I ever write it.

John: Checking out MB for the second time in October really changed my mind from April's observations because we saw more of the hotel this time, and I liked what I saw. I really like the place as a resort hotel but didn't check out the VP so I don't know how the pay schedules are there. Jeff?

Joe and V, I'm willing to check out MB again. I had great hopes for the House of Blues but was disappointed. I don't remember what the vp selection was like.
I do remember that stupid pig slot machine that Linda won $60 on and bought herself some shoes she had been eyeing at the Forum Shops<G>
V, weren't we there the night Walt played chicken on the freeway with the semi after we left Main Street Station?<G>

I really liked MB, including Red Square, notwithstanding my disappointment with the ice bar and vodka freezer. Another disappointment is the comping policy there -- I gave significant play, but I've only received one, poor, offer.

Veronica, as for posting the pictures, I don't have custody of them. If I can track them down, maybe I'll do that.
