Talk about crazy....thousands are expected to tie the knot on New Years Eve in Las Vegas. The Clark County Marriage License Bureau expects as many or more people during the New Year's weekend, from Friday through Sunday, as had come through its 24-hour office on Thanksgiving. During that weekend, Thursday through Sunday, the marriage bureau processed 1,833 licenses at $35 each.
Last year, the bureau issued 531 licenses on New Year's Eve, and engaged couples waited five hours in line for the license. This year, though, there will be twice as many people to work around the clock from Friday morning through Sunday at midnight, when the office closes.
Besides all the weddings booked at various chapels, there is also a single ceremony at Viva Las Vegas. 30 couples will marry in midnight nuptials that the Fox network plans to televise from the Las Vegas Blvd. South chapel.
