On NYE, some Strip hotels will take extra precautions to keep their properties and guests safe. Details are sketchy, but supposedly Caesars Palace and The Venetian will have special fencing, there will be horseback security at Monte Carlo, and at The Mirage, Bellagio, and Treasure Island there will be a guests-only policy. Downtown will have special barriers to limit access from the hotels and casinos to the Fremont Street Experience, which requires an admission ticket for NYE.

V, that once again brings up an interesting thought. IF Las Vegas hotels are booked to an average of 98% on any given weekend, wouldn't the expected crowd only be 2% bigger than normal? No answer needed.

V,
That little bit of news really makes a guy want to go to Vegas on New Years Eve....NOT!
Camera men with bullet proof vests....hmmm, sounds like a party I can live without! <s>

Now I know why I had no desire to be in Las Vegas for NYE. Joe has a GREAT point about the extra 2%.
Lee, you may need your bullet proof vest this Sat night. You know how things are in these college towns in Ohio

You can bet that "I" won't be anywhere near the strip on NYE. I live 6 miles from it but I can see NYNY and the Luxor from my bedroom window. And if I drive around the block I can see the whole strip. Maybe I'll park there and watch all the lights go out at midnight and then the whole place go up in flames. Depending on the wind direction I should probably have my gas mask ready, though.<g>

Randy: Are ya sure you don't want to get out of town then? How about driving to LA? You can't take a train, and the bus takes too long, but if I lived there I think I would drive to L.A., although it may take longer than 4 hours if there is a mass exodus from LV <g>.

Kelly is now working at Bertollini's on w. sahara. She says the food and service is a lot better there than the forum shops location because they don't cater to a tourist crowd.

She'll be working NYE but is first cut so I'll probably be playing VP at a locals bar near there until she arrives. There is a Charlie's Bar right down the road from her that is paying double on the RF on NYE from 9pm to midnight. That makes the 9/6DB they have there right at break even. Or there is a Doc Holidays nearby and they have a full pay DW game. Decisions, decisions.......

Randy, I did not know there was another Bertolinis in Las Vegas. How long has it been there. When I last checked there locations, about 2 years ago, they only listed one location in Las Vegas.
We have always liked the Forum Shop location and have never had a bad experience there. We like the atmosphere of the patio by the fountain also.
What is the atmosphere like at the one Kelly works at? How far from the stip is it?

Bertolini's actually had a restaurant at the outlet shops in primm. It's no longer there. The w. sahara and 1 block w of ft apache location has been open a year. Kelly says it's casual fine dining. Lots of wood. Definitely different than the forum shops in atmosphere. Caters to the summerlin crowd. I haven't been inside yet.

I have really liked or disliked what I've eaten at the forum shops location. I've also had good and bad service there. Since you're a big fan of there's already you may want to try this location. It's probably only a mile or so from the Inn at Summerlin.
