...An Upswing In Thunderstorms With Heavy Rainfall Expected Over The Mojave Desert And Southern Great Basin Tonight Into Monday...

Moisture from the remains of tropical storm Carlotta continued to surge north. This moisture will spread into the Mojave Desert and southern Great Basin by midday Monday. In addition to the moisture increase...the air mass will become quite unstable overnight into Monday. Deep moisture combined with an unstable air mass will increase the potential for thunderstorms to produce heavy rainfall... possibly leading to flash flooding.

At present...it appears that the best threat for strong thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will be during the day Monday...particularly over southern Nevada...northwest Arizona...and Inyo County in California. However thunderstorms with heavy rainfall could occur just about anywhere or anytime. Strong winds are also expected with the thunderstorms.

Again the main concern with this upcoming event is the potential for flash flood producing thunderstorms. Stay tuned to the latest statements concerning this situation...and for possible watches and warnings.
