Lake Mead Water Levels Drop Some More
Lake Mead Water Levels Drop Some More
Heard this weekend that they are going to drop the level of Lake Mead another 10 feet between now and August. This will bring the lake level down nearly 50 feet from it's high two years ago.

The marina that we have our boat at has been moved out so far that we are almost to the shore of the other side of the bay (Las Vegas Bay) that we are in.

There's talk from the owners of the marina that they may have to split the marina in half and move the outer most half, yes that's the half we have our boat in, over to another side of the bay to avoid having our slips pushed up on shore.

This is going to be interesting to see this done. I just hope they give us enough warning as to the exact date this will occur. I think I'll opt to haul my boat out during this process.

Ralph,

Actually Lee changing water levels can be the pitfall of owning a boat anywhere. When we take the boat to San Diego, the boat is our hotel while we are there. There are times I wake up in the morning 10-15 lower than when I went to bed. Changing ocean tides can really be fun if you're not careful. eek

IMHO....The pitfall of owning a boat in the desert is the summer heat. Without A/C...July and August are hell out here, but we make up for it by having a 12 month boating season. I'll put up with the summer heat for that. We don't even know how to winterize our boats around here, we just start 'em up and use 'em all year long. laugh
